Ah, yea, but The Days of Grays was a quite bad album for me, it needs much more than guitar solos to be as good as their other albums.
Yeah. But honestly. They got a new guitar player. Judging by his Solo stuff a very talented one. so why don't they USE HIM GOD DAMN IT!

Because Kakko has found enlightenment in his new apathic style. :)

Then this style sucks. Honestly, there is no good reason for not having a guitar solo. Even some of my favourite Bands like Jorn, Powerwolf or Airbourne are guilty of it.

The expectations were just too high. Could it actually be the main reason I've yet to find this album attractive in the first place?
:) Well, I think you might be right there.
No need to feel so afraid, colors last a lifetime and fade to gray...

i don't think a song is about what kind of solo it has.

For my surprise, the reviewer is the brother of Timo Tolkki, check his Polaris review, not bad at all, didn't expected that

Look Verdades. HinatAArcticA said some quite nasty things to me. And I am just a human and make some mistakes too. I said some terrible things to him. Let us please just end this discussion here. Ok? :)

For me it somewhat is. If I hear a kick-ass song I expect a guitar solo and if the song doesn't have that solo it feels like something is missing.

I don't think it has something "missing". Maybe we (I include myself) are so used to associate: amazing song = must have a solo. It's something that will cost to appreciate, but at the end you will find it quite great even without it.
Although I know it's pointless to try to make you change your mind: you are someone with great principles and besides all I consider that awesome :)
