I'm relatively new here but I will say that the AAAA guys are annoying and pathetic.

They flood every thread with a wave of emoticons and garbage and it makes my brain leak out of my head a little after every post.

Again, "banning someone" is not technically feasible. Unless everyone who participates is willing to establish a very strong link between their actual ("real life" or "AFK") identity, and their user ID here, it's not possible to ban "a person".

I could require everyone to re-register and in that process, to send me a scan of their passport/ ID card and a snail-mail address. I'd then snail-mail a form which they would sign and return and only then would I re-enable their account here.

Or perhaps require a valid credit card on registration, charge a $20 membership fee, appoint someone moderator (who? browneyedgirl? Allison? DreamT? 10A? Ragehead91?), and then have this moderator fine people $1 against their "balance" when they make posts the moderator finds objectionable. Or ban them with forfeiture of the whole remaining balance.

And then we could have a real vibrant Stalinist community here, with the maybe two - three people on the planet who would subject themselves to such intrusions and restrictions, agreeing and talking amongst themselves.

We get it, you don't like them, but in one post, Irinia has made more valid posts than you have in a barrage of pointless crap.

And you also failed to read Jens' post.
I support an ignore feature, it's the best solution, I've seen it work time and time again.

(and yes, (s)he(?) does have a point, if the A10 spent more time in the Spam and Flames section, I think Irinia's concerns wouldn't be so bad)

No, I said more than that. I said that they're obnoxious and tedious. They don't contribute anything usefull to discussions but spam, unfunny jokes a shitload of smileys. If you try to discuss with them, they only give you more of the aforementioned. They turn every discussion into nonsense. I like jokes and I have nothing against sarcasm but what they do is just pathetic. As other people already said, they don't help attracting new users at all. Quite the contrary, they scare off potential new users. And a lot of the users we currently have are also leaving because of them. If they would keep their spam exclusively to the Flames section I would've no problem. But I mean EXCLUSIVELY. Only in the Flames and the Spam section. Not ANYWHERE else. That would be a compromise.

Just want to point out one more thing that gets annoying. People who don't edit out all the previous posts when they quote someone. It's really easy to do. See? I did it. If you don't, then we get these really, really long quotes before short comments on them. I should think Rageman would not want to have the posts that annoy him repeated?

On Topic, I like Jens' idea. Wouldn't cure all ills but would at least stick a bandaid on it.

1) Some new users might maybe be intimidated by the A-Family. But isn't that Jens' problem? If he even suggested that I change my avatar, post in certain sections, whatever, I would do it! Priapus knows!




2) This poll is inheritance unfair because your opening statement and the negative title of the topic introduce an inherent bias. If we really want to know the collective opinion of the Stratovarius community, the title should be "A-Family Discussion" and we should each be allowed to make a statement asserting our case!




3) Remember I am just one guy! There's A9, A10 2.0, A7, A12, A24, whatever. We might collectively be overbearing, but I didn't tell anyone else to register these nicks! And why should we be so serious all the time . Lets have a party!

I asked Jens about the A-issue after the Cleveland Concert, and he said something to the extent of "It's not just one person, it's actually a bunch of people controlling their own accounts".

Your logic better applies to banning them, because if you ban them, they come back with new accounts. If you ignore them, they're free to post their thoughts for anyone who cares to read.

I think it's not about banning, just delete the posts which are considered spams. I have never seen any forum that accepts this kind of post with tons of emoticons and crazy motion pictures like this. Also the avatars, microphallus or penis or whatever. If I use any social network and use that kind of avatar, I will have this avatar removed as soon as someone reports it. I know this is a metal forum, but IMO it's annoying.
The point I would like to express here is, I don't see this happen in any healthy forum. And I think there must be something wrong here. wtf about Timo Tolkki? do the fans care about Timo Tolkki and all the freaking things, or they care about music? It is Stratovarius official forum and what we see here is a bunch of Tolkki bashing. I know that Tollki has done many bad things to Stratovarius, and he is not healthy. But IMO, Jens, if you approve this place to be Tolkki bashing place, I'm sorry but I don't think you are healthy, either. Musicians supposed to play song with feelings, not like the machine. So, if you are happy to see Tolkki bashed, what is your feelings when you play his songs in gigs? I'm not backing Tolkki. I'm just very very sad to see the band that has such amazing songs which I can't see anywhere else, to be in such bad condition. It's impossible to explain. Very sad
