FWIW, I prefer lower wattage bulbs indoors, but not because I'm worried about what Gore thinks, but I've found them to be less of a strain since my eyes are a bit more sensitive to bright light than the average person's.
I think the flicker of CFLs is at a much higher frequency (like, kHz) than normal light bulbs (60 Hz). Those old fluorescent tubes are the worst, at least with light bulbs with a filament the filament smoothes out the 60 Hz flicker a bit... so in this case you can save on your power bill, have to bother less about replacing them, and save your migraine medication bills. :)

If you still feel like pissing off Al Gore and harming the environment using CFLs, just throw them in the normal garbage after they break, since there is a little bit of mercury in them.

If you are hardcore and feel like harming your immediate personal environment, break them inside your house to release the mercury gas there, and then put them in the garbage.
I am actually pretty careful about power consumption at home, and that usually reflects fairly well on my monthly power bill. I do remember the old-style bulbs had to be replaced a lot, and hearing them "pop" ever so often did tend get a bit annoying.

Not that I'm the type of person that's actually in to harming the environment as much as I actually enjoy finding whatever material I can to discredit Gore and his ridiculous and now at least somewhat discredited theories that he had turned into a cottage industry.

To paraphrase Churchill, "He's a bitter little man, with a lot to be bitter about." :)

So foodstuffs, medication, automobiles, electronic devices, firearms, alcohol, tobacco, and basically everything else that is regulated for sale are communist because the government has a say in each case? ???

So anything mixed market is communism? Anyone with a building permit or a license is going into communist principles?

It would be one thing if it were mandated that only one kind be sold, but I don't have a problem with a society getting together and making rules democratically. At least I see a use for rules for public property or if private property causes damage to someone else’s private or public property.

There's a fairly established standard in the business world of what is too harmful to the environment to be used. Sure, in the short term its beneficial to a business to dump toxic waste in the river, but for the sake of all the businesses and their consumers, its mandated where you can dump your toxic waste. On a shorter scale, the same could be said for lightbulbs, (Except the eco-friendly bulbs are much cheaper)

Very optimistic of them to think that they'll all be alive in 10 years.

But yes, action is needed. It is the one issue that will affect everyone in the world, to some extent. Shame the matter has become so politicized and it's been guided more by that than anything else so far.

I don't give a fuck that posters, I was just posting cause I had nothing more to do at that moment, well, some work here in the office... but...you know...

PS: And the "old effect" is just bad.

It would be interesting if all the money gone to politics for this would have gone into researching solutions and ways to better use energy. Perhaps with the billions spend of trying to get third world dept forgiven, that dept could have been paid off on its own.

The problem is, it's reached a point that an international response needs to be figured out. The science is there, now we need to figure out what exactly to do about it (apart from bury one's head in the sand which is what a few people think is the best idea but whatever). We can spend all the money in the world on research, but without implementation and a unified response we might as well not bother.

It is not.

Blasphemy.

If I do not.

Actually believe.

In any of it.

It was.

A 'facepalm'.

Response.

To your post.

About how.

Low energy lightbulbs.

Are communist.

Which is so.

Ridiculous.

That this was.

The only response.

That I could think.

Of.

Besides.

There are not.

Any Muslims.

That I know of.

On this forum.

Therefore.

What you suggested.

Would not serve.

Any purpose.

I have stated.

Several times before.

That.

I dislike.

Islam.

As much.

If not more than.

Any other religion.

In other news;

Al Gore wrote a poem:
One thin September soon
A floating continent disappears
In midnight sun

Vapors rise as
Fever settles on an acid sea
Neptune's bones dissolve

Snow glides from the mountain
Ice fathers floods for a season
A hard rain comes quickly

Then dirt is parched
Kindling is placed in the forest
For the lightning's celebration

Unknown creatures
Take their leave, unmourned
Horsemen ready their stirrups

Passion seeks heroes and friends
The bell of the city
On the hill is rung

The shepherd cries
The hour of choosing has arrived

Police jail man for rubbing burger in wife's face

A 25-year-old Port St. Lucie man was arrested for allegedly rubbing a hamburger on his wife's face during an argument. Police said Daniel Boss and his wife got into it late Thursday night and started calling each other names. At some point, the woman apparently poured soda on Boss' hamburger, causing him to grab the sandwich, rub it in her face and start throwing food.

Boss left, but his wife went to the police station to report the incident. Officers arrested him three hours later on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.

It could not be determined if Boss had an attorney.

   A travesty of Al's poem

Please help the goats.

Our cold Decembernight is here,
Our chilly land is full of snow,
No sun to see.

A snowstorm comes and goes,
The flu kills us,
Our legs are like jelly over our feet.

Snow falles on all mountains,
Ice is building hills,
The fish are freezeing.

Unknown strange animals,
Reign in our forests,
Some are soon asleep.

We are passionat in the darkness,
And the bell will call us,
In all our heartrooms.

The goathherd is sorry,
The sabletoothed cat has eaten all his goats,
And is still hungry.

Please help Gore to save the few remaining goats...
