I really dont know why Tobias gets so much comparison with bon jovi.......sure , lost in space, and some other are very soft rock, but what the hell? soft rock also rocks! in any case, the last edguy album is nothing like Jon would do, neither the last two avantasia.
and hell , even if the decided to do a total bon jovi rip off, what is wrong with that? like.....only power metal allowed? is kind of an socialist philosophy right there..

I'm not gonna start the Bon Sammet Jovi thing again, there was a lot of talk in this topic:
http://forum.stratovarius.com/viewtopic ... c&start=30
Even there are some pictures. In almost every internet corner people says he clones Bon Jovi. In a lot of interviews, the interviewer ask about it. I suppose that when sooooo many people sees that, maybe there are something real? And he likes a lot Bon Jovi, in an interview says it. It's clear he is the typical rockstar wannabe. I mean, Sammet is famous, but he wants to be always the mainman for everything and Edguy seems Sammguy.
Of course icecab, if you put Speedhoven, that is the only let's say the only song in TS that is more similar to the previous works, ok, but the new direction soft-hard rock have almost the same compositions just changing some tempo here and there like 80's Bon Jovi. I like a lot Bon Jovi, and i'm fan for many years but that's not the thing now.
Please, do not post more songs and say: "tell me where is that bon Jovi!"
I have nothing against that, it is just that for me Sammet and Eguy is over, that's all.
Just see this pictures and listen to some 80's Bon Jovi songs, till These Days more or less and then listen to TS. see live concerts from 80's Bon Jovi, including Living on a Prayer video and see what he does while singing, then see what Sammet does while singing live.

You really think it's just the tempo that is the difference between songs?

All my perceptions about TS and nowadays Edguy are in that topic, I don't want to sart it here again, icecab. I'd like to enjoy the new Edguy, but I can't.

i just find that perception interesting. to find that there is only a tempo difference between songs, no matter how different they actually are, it's interesting. it does seem to be a common comment of people not being able to tell songs apart, i just think it's strange that people perceive things in a way that's very different from the composition recorded and on paper. two different melodies being perceived as the same melody or two different rhythm being perceived as the same rhythm, it's interesting stuff for me. perception of the music is different from enjoying the music, but just being able to hear the notes and the patterns that come up. certainly a person that hears two different songs as one song or only hears some of the difference but not all of the differences makes for a interesting study.

Yes, it is interesting

. But you say this:
tempo difference between songs, no matter how different they actually are
And I think that's the reason. "no matter how different they are" (for you or in the paper. When talking about music in general you speak a lot from your heart and feelings, but when somebody tell you that it sounds the same you use all the mathematical/musicology terms just to show it's not. I mean, you are pure feeling sometimes and sometimes you are just "science". It is not necessary for a song to sound the same and have the same patterns. It could sound the same being different in the paper. Should be something like 2+2=4 - 3+1=4 - 1+1+1+1 = 4
Of course it is all perception and I'm not saying that is correct (who knows what's correct in music?...) I'm just saying the way I feel it/hear it.
Listening a lot of songs from TS makes me listen Bon Jovi 80's songs/choruses/riffs. If I listen to Mandrake I hear Edguy, just Edguy. When I used to listen Lavatory Love Machine, I heard edguy. I could say maybe I was listening a bit to The Offspring, but it was Edguy. There were enough differences to me to say they were Edguy. The same with Mysteria or The pharaoh for example.

As I no longer listen to Edguy, after having been let down with "Helfire Club" (even though just to be curious I watched some of his video-clips), I have nothing to do in this Sammet = Jovi discussion; that was just what I thought, because I found both music slightly similar being Tobias the one who is "imitating" Bon Jovi. Nor I am that big of a fan from Bon Jovi, but it's a fact I'm starting to see.
Take it whatever the way you want, I was just saying (and this is not being judgemental, after reading this page my doubts were clarified)

I really dont give a damn...if they look a like in those pics, is like trying to compare marilyn manson with alice cooper........OF COURSE MANSON STOLE SOME SHIT FROM ALICE!, and from ZIGGY STARDUST...what is the point==?? are we talking about music or photos here?
I really like edguy from his demo tapes (you can find it somewhere on the Internet) until rocket ride ..I didnt like T.Sanctus. they evolved and changed over the time...is foolish to believe that you are going to make the same music when you are 17 that when you are 35.
