How many Iron Maiden fans are there and how many Dream Theater fans are there?
I dont think it would be close. Im not talking about opinions now, im talking about facts...

Its not about being better but about the influence. DT are surely some of the best musicians around, yet they had never and will never have as much influence on other bands or the whole image of the music like Maiden.

Wait 10 more years and we're gonna see

Never say never.

I'm gonna have to say never. Iron Maiden were around when Metal was forming into the way we know it, and Dream Theater themselves take so many influences from Iron Maiden anyway, it's impossible for them to ever be more influential. It's like saying Helloween will eventually be more influential than Black Sabbath. I don't see it happening.
Again, this isn't opinion. This is pretty solid fact. True, I've been a die-hard Maiden fan since I was 11, but the facts are there.

Sure DT has a lot of Maiden influences, they even covered the whole Number Of The Best album

So yeah, Maiden should win this for sure. DT would only lose to them (and Pink Floyd but it's no metal

).
BTW i'm gonna see both of them this summer it's gonna be awesome (actually DT opens for Maiden with Within Temptation LOL) \m/

Nirvana is no metal... But I agree they are terribly overrated.

I'll add my concurrence to that statement. Nirvana really really is overrated. And while we're on non-metal for a moment, you know who was atrociously overrated? Mase. Christ on a crutch, the guy obviously had a mental retardation, and everyone thought it was so unique.
And speaking of retards, what about that william hung kid? i never saw him but i heard about him everywhere i went.

Non-metal then? Blink-182. They fucking sucked, thankfully they dont exist anymore. I've met baboons who could play more skillfully than them, and I havnt met many baboons. Why the HELL did Mark Hoppus get his own signiature Fender bass??? He couldn't play his way out of a wet paper bag. What the fuck was that all about?? Creed were quite bland. Nickleback are alright, but everyone seems to worship them... why??
I do enjoy some of that music, I enjoy Green Day and Sum 41 in some moods. They're good background music, although I must give credit to Green Day taking slightly more abitious routes with their last couple of records. So no, I don't hate the entire genre.
