After watching Saw 5 I can say I found the perfect guy(Costas Mandylor) to play ASOIAFs resident sicko, Lord Roose Bolton of the Dreadfort. I can just visualize (Costas)him with that slimy smirk as he plunges the sword into King Robbs heart, saying, "Jaime Lannister sends his regards!"
Hopefully, one day during a romantic interlude Rooses 300 pound wife will fall on him, or maybe he will fall asleep while his pet leeches are feasting on his blood. I am sure GRRM will create (maybe) a Sawish demise for Lord Bolton eventually!

BENJEN STARK HAS BEEN CAST!

Joseph Mawle, a popular and talented BBC actor(yes, he recently played Jesus in a BBC production) has been chosen to play the role of Benjen Stark, Eddaed Starks younger brother, who is a member of rank at The Wall, a place where misfits, outcasts, and outlaws wind up in Westeros. Also, guys who just want to do a public service/duty for their country by watching this area. The Wall was created to keep out the bad forces which possibly come down from the hostile extreme North.
The Old Knight(Rodrick Cassel)has been cast!

Ron Donachie
Ron will play the role of Sir Rodrick Cassel who becomes Catelyns guide and protector when she journeys across Westeros to find justice in the attempted murder of her 9 year old son, Bran.
Ron has played many roles(mainly supporting and background) in his acting career which has spanned at least 3 decades.

Lena Headey in a comical moment.
Almost all of the major roles(except a couple)in the pilot have been filled, so nothing to report until these are cast. Or unless the minor roles are filled with a well known. >sigh<

Very handsome! I think he will do!

I think I have saw this guy in roles in some movies. He is part Hawaiian, and very much looks the part of the Dothraki leader, Drogo in Game of Thrones.
Oh, he was in Stargate!

Now I know why he looked familiar! Cool!

This is actually one of my favorite casting choices so far. he's perfect for the role.

Has Donald Sumpter been confirmed as Master Luwin?
I was hoping it would be Roger Daltery, but I do not think the clues pointed directly at him.

LOL, just replace the chickens with ravens and you have Luwin down pat!

IMO, Gordon Currie would be a convincing Littlefinger!

Someone on the ASOIAF board compared Littlefinger to the AntiChrist. Well, in the Left Behind movie Gordon Currie did a terrific job as the sneaky evil AntiChrist, Nickolai Carpathia, so I think Gordon would do a great job as the equally sneaky, Littlefinger!

And, it goes without saying that Gordon(a Canadian) does European accents near perfectly.
BTW, the filming of the GoT pilot is nearing completion, just another couple weeks or so. Maybe by Spring, hopefully the pilot will be ready for broadcast!

UNBOWED, UNBENT, UNBROKEN is the slogan of the ruling Martell family of Dorne in the Ice and Fire series of books.
Is HAMMERFALL by chance a fan of these books?

Is that where they got the idea for the name of their album?
No, I am not drunk,

I am just curious!

Next Spring when The Game of Throne pilots on HBO you will know what all the hoopla is about!

Have you read the books by any chance?
The Song of Ice and Fire series, and The Sword of Truth series are the best books I have ever read. SWord of Truth books are a TV series now, and soon Song of Ice and Fire will be.

The whole series is good! Another one, Dance of Dragons, is due out in a few months. If you buy the first one you will just have to buy all of them because it is like a medieval fantasy soap opera.
A rumor is saying that Julia Louis Dreyfuss is being considered for a role. Of course, that is just that: a rumor. Julia is the lady who played Elaine on Seinfeld. She would make a cool Lysa, or Lollys, or even Ellaria Sand. She would fit right in. She would be a convincing Queen Selyse, too.

Lena Headey is pregnant. Congrats to her but hope this does not throw a wrench into the series.
Kat Morris would make a terrific Cersei, but hope it does not come to replacements.
Rumor has it Sean Bean may have conflicts in his schedule after the pilot. Lets hope not, because this series is almost certain to be pcked up!

Jason Mamoa has been selected to play CONAN in the Conan the Barbarian remake which is coming up probably next year. This movie has been discussed for years: the Rock was approached, and so was Vin Diesel to play Conan. Finally, a selection has been made and hopefully he will fill Arnold's sandals sucessfully!

HBO has greenlighted the show

And now I wonder what will come first - the first episode of the show or A Dance With Dragons.

My son and I were discussing this issue last night before I knew. Then, on the ASOIAF board I read about it but it was too late to call him so I will inform him this afternoon. He will be very pleased.

He works for a cable/internet company and already has HBO, so no big deal for him. I'll have my satellite service reinstalled when the time comes!

Now that a sign of a fanatic fan!
Yeah, I'm waiting patiently *coughcough* for ADWD, too!
Now, to resume dreamcasting for the rest of the group!

Thought I'd bump this topic up.
Has anyone been watching this show? It has been nominated for TV Drama of the Year, or something like that. The BIGGIE award. I have not watched it but one of my sons has, and he said it was great! The show does have high ratings.
I guess I will buy the DVD when it becomes available.
Dances with Dragons book will go on sell July 12.
My oldest son, who works at Books-A-Million has already seen it.

And, its a big one!!!!

GEMMA WHELAN
has been chosen to play Asha Greyjoy of the Iron Islands whose people are like sea-worshipping vikings. Asha is a princess but instead of living in a castle dressed in frills, velvet, and lace she has chosen to be Captain of her own ship, and leader of a crew of rough-and-tumble sailors. The character of Asha is strong, she doesn't take shit from anyone especially her male relatives who like to give her a hard time. Yet, Asha is described as stunningly beautiful under all those masculine clothes and leather boots making all guys head turn to her everytime she walks into one of those raunchy sailors bars that exist at every port she sails her ship into.

Melisandre, and Stannis have been cast.
Carise Van Houton(a Dutch actress) will play Melisandre, the Red Witch. Stephen Dillane(who played Merlin in 2005 King Arthur movie)will play King Stannis Baratheon of Dragonstone.
Not my choices, but I think they will do a fine job.
Personally, I was hoping for Rufus Sewell as Stannis, and Bridget Regan as Mel.

Liam Cunningham has been chosen to play the part of Davos, King Stannis's knight, servant, and friend.
He certainly looks the part---just add a beard and you got Davos. A rather tragic fellow who loses 3 of his sons in the Battle of Blackwater in the book, Clash of Kings.
Liam has been in several movies, and tv shows one of which was as Visogoth King Theodoric in Attila, and was in Starz mini-series Camelot.

Robert Pugh as Craster, the King of the wildling tribes who has lots of wives, children, and has incest relationships with his daughters. Don't know how HBO is gonna pull that off?

Well, its HBO.
This Murray girl is going to play Gilly, Craster's teen daughter who has a son by Craster himself. She runs away from her home because her father is a monster who kills all the male children his wives and daughters have by him. Yes, Craster is a very sick, and warped character to say the least!

The two side-by-side. They actually resemble. Great casting!

This series is the greatest thing TV has ever been graced with and you should feel bad for not watching it.
I'll resurrect this thread since the show has become quite popular since.
I'm 1/3 into the first book and I'm loving it. I'll try to at least get through it, the 2nd and the 3rd books before the next season starts.
