"hostage" situation in Colombia, you've to see it

So, as many of you have heard, there is a serious "hostage" situation in colombian jungles. For many years, 10 or even more, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (aka FARC) have been keeping away from freedom more than 750 people from all social classes, civilian, politicians and military. There are also people from other countries: USA, France, Norway, Venezuela...and maybe some others that we even don't know. The FARC guerrilla is considered as a terrorist group (and this is rigth) 'cause they scare the civilian people, by killing them randomly, forcing them to join to them, or mutilating others, directly or through the landmines they've scattered in the national territory. Many of this last ones are peasant kids that are just playing in the backyard (how can someone explain to a kid that he/she will never have an arm or a leg anymore) or crossing any path they need to go somewhere. Even the very members of this group fall in the landmine fields, 'cause no one is capable to remember where this devices are. Recently, the inhuman conditions the kidnapped people are living was revealed through "life proofs" sended some days ago to some families. There are also a lot of barbaric and cruel acts this guerrila made to the colombian people, that anyone could write a very extense book. Like a last example, remember Emmanuel, the only kid that was born in captivity (yep, this is a word that sound proper for an animal, but the prisoners held in the jungle are living almost like a group of animals), spared him from his mother, and almost abandoned to his own fate. His story was pretty well known in the most of the world, so anyone that looks for it in the net could find enough info.

Going into the core of this post, here we (Just_a_vampire and I) tell you about a web site proposing a world wide manifestation against this barbaric terrorist group, to demonstrate them and their minions that they're alone in the world, that their so-called "proud fight" is a lie we all have uncovered, that we all know their only interest is the drug dealing and that they soon will have no choice but to surrender and pay for their crimes, and that they must release all the kidnapped people, specially the women, the old and the sick ones. We all can reject this inhuman cruelty, and the ways to are explained here.

I give my full support to this effort. I'm tired of hearing such terrible things from Colombia. Being another Colombian citizen (I have dual nationality) it just pains me to hear all this.

Enough. Terror doesn't pay, and their 'freedom fight' is just a lie to cover their crimes.

This is the truth, but only the ones that live it are the ones that believe it. Did you (NV)heard about the danish people who donate a lot of money to the FARC and their page Anncol? it's amazing how people can believe blindly in those lies. but, they have no relatives lost in the colombian jungle so...

Well, picking up what happened in feb 4th, we can say that the support to this massive movement was gigantic, even when a lot of people tried to stop it, take polithics into it, or even twist wildly the real meaning of this.

True, the beginning of the FARC guerrilla is not the narcotrafic or those things, but the violence period known as "la Violencia" that came out after April 9th , 1948 (for non Colombian people, that day a important and loved by the people politician was murdered) and in which a lot of people suffered death, torture and were forced to leave their lands; either by the army, the police or criminals. then, some people decided to take revenge and created the guerrillas.

It's also true that in Colombia the situation hasn't change too much, but the guerrilla lost their point and became a group interested only in money and able to do ANYTHING to get it, even when there's innocent people involved. The colombian people got tired and finally we took the voice to say'em: stop killing and torturing innocent people, and leave us alone. that's the real meaning of this protest.

But some people just disagreed whit this. Like some politician, who said this was a hate act. I just cannot see the hate in all this. This is just a manifestation of people who only want peace.

I also recognise that FARC are not the only problem here. but we must start with something, or the things will never change. those are my two cents.

Well, I've seen just a short note about the march in newspaper .
Our media are full of presidential elections right now...our presidential elections moved US presidential elections to the second pages and all media refer just about this presidential tragicomedy what's going on here...
