Polaris Limited Collector's CD Edition - Signed?

Hiya.

I went to the store today to purchase a copy of Polaris (in the UK) and I picked up what appears to be a copy that has been signed by members of the band. It was just randomly sitting on the shelf so I picked it up and bought it.

It is sealed and brand new. I can see 3 or 4 signatures, signed with silver marker underneath the plastic packaging.

Does anyone know how this came to be and if it's rare or not? Thanks.
