New Stratovarius Japan editions to come

Post by Tero-75 »

I ordered the Cain's Offering cd today from cdjapan, and tought I'd check what they have to offer from Stratovarius while browsing their pages.
I found that that seven Stratovarius albums will be released in new SHM-CD format, as cardboard sleeve mini-LP's. The release date is September 9. and the albums to be released are:

Twilight time
Dreamspace
Fourth Dimension
Episode
Visions
Visions of Europe
Destiny

Fright Night has been re-released in Japan in 2008.

This time the seven re-releases are all high-price SHM-CD issues (2800 yen per copy). And it's also the first time Stratovarius records released by Universal Japan instead of the longtime label Victor Entertainment

Can someone tell me what the big difference is with these new releases compared to the old ones? The high prize might not justify buying it, but I'm a collector, so...

SHM-CDs have better sound quality compared with normal CDs.

What do you expect their value will be in 10 years? If more than tripled, then it worths buying it. :P

Just a waste of money. There is no good reason to buy the same album twice or more. Even if this version would have bonus tracks.

Excepted if you like to collect all editions you can find... I know someone who has 14 different versions of the Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I (Helloween).

And why (suddenly) are a lot of "new" editions coming from Stratovarius? I mean, it is because of the return? Because of the debts? Why now, and not before, when Stratovarius was in the peak?

Tolkki is gonna receive some money for this? He said that Stratovarius will open an account for him.

Just curious.

And what is the use in collecting all the stuf? It is just an utter and complete waste of money for me to pay for the same album twice or more just because it comes from Japan and has 1 or 2 bonus tracks. It's just stupid.

if better quality is important to someone, then the better quality of these cds are a factor. it's not like this is the same product as a normal cd.

Yes and buying CDs is just the most stupid thing to do. It's just a waste of money: download albums so.

I'm not saying that. Don't put words in my mouth. I'm just saying that I think it is stupid to buy a album you already have just because this version comes from Japan and has 1 or two bonus track. Buying an album you already bought once another 14 times just because they come from Japan, have bonus tracks or any other reason is just stupid for me. I don't see the point. You're just wasting your money.

Some people think it's not a waste of money... Anyway, it's their money, not yours.

You have to be a collector to understand it. :)
It's a feeling inside you.

Being a collector is the point. If you are not buying every version you can, you can not meet your collecting potential.

What is exactly a SHM-CD format, as cardboard sleeve mini-LP's? :?:
