Because almost no one has ever seen the original line-up of
Stratovarius, here we are in early-85. From left to right: John
Vihervä, Staffan Stråhlman and Tuomo Lassila. This was also the first
Stratovarius gig poster.

Great pic.
That was the year when Stråhlman changed the name of the band from Black Water to Stratovarius.It's really curious to see how bands change. The music was completely different in that days. Then Tolkki entered the band as we all know and we had Twilight Time and Dreamspace (that was the first musical change and when the thing started to be a bit succesful) Then Tolkki "recruit" TK, JJ, JM and JK and the music started to be what Stratovarius was in all these years. And for that we are talking here.

Now it's another change. And the future seems pretty good again. Usually, nobody seems to look at the roots, so it's really good to see Lauri posting this.

I just hope to see the topic here and not moved to the Flames section cause I think it's good for new fans too and would be cool to travel through time seeing how important was each member of the band.

But I suppose it depends of AAAAAAEIOU

I think Tolkki said in a Radio Rock interview once that Tuomo and Stråhlman had made the name up in a rehearsal

Yes, there are a couple pics on some of the older threads that show TT dressed to the nines and lookin good! I think in one pic he had a yellow suit but I am not positive about that. Maybe I will look for the pic later. Oh, and there is the Dreamspace pic that really is good of all the guys!
