I downloaded the Mozilla browser because it is somewhat faster than Internet Explorer, and seems to be more secure. Now, I CANNOT Log-in to this forum using Mozilla. I had to shift back to IE. I tried to Log-in 10 times using Mozilla, and it would not work. Can somebody be so kind as to tell me why the fuck that is?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I'm using Mozilla and it seems to work just fine.
Try reinstalling mozilla again.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
Works fine for me. Maybe something messed up in the installing.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
Well, now Mozilla is saying they cannot find the server. Strange. I used the damn Mozilla browser several times this morning, and about 5 minutes ago I posted in another forum using the Mozilla. Then, when I tried it it here again, I got the unfound server message.
I will post here as of now using IE, then I will try Mozilla again tomorrow.
Its just really strange. I am only having problems with this forum, and in the Mozilla password thingy, it knows my password! So, I do not know what to think!
Oh, I posted here using the Mozilla at about 2pm, so I do not know what changed since then!

Re: What the HELL is going on?
Well, I cleared my cache and cookies, so it seems now Mozilla is working again!
Man, I have only been using computer for a few days, and I feel like giving facepalms. Not to anyone in particular, just in general! My son, I think, has already given me a few in my learning stage. He is not too patient with me.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
This has also happened to me everytime I've installed Firefox (after formatting my hard drive or getting a new computer) but after a while it has started to work just fine. These log-in problems haven't occured to me in any other web-site or with any other browser. I still haven't figured out why this happens.browneyedgirl wrote:I downloaded the Mozilla browser because it is somewhat faster than Internet Explorer, and seems to be more secure. Re: What the HELL is going on?
I got in OK this morning, but at least I had the sense to google abit before I got too upset or gave up.
I just learning so: everyone have patience. I'm not really retarded even though sometimes it seems to be..............
Seriously, Mozilla is alot more "secure" than IE, so maybe thats why things of that nature occur. Just guessing.
Webtv is such an easy program(more made for children, IMHO)so it spoiled me, I guess!

Opera can scroll really smoothly. I use firefox because it has the ad-block add-on.

Actually, my son recommended Opera on Windows XP.
Re: What the HELL is going on?
I've found Opera to be a bit faster and less bloated that Firefox- on both Windows and Linux.Morgana wrote:Mozilla sucks. Opera rules

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I've been recommended to move to Opera. Firefox feels like the old pair of boots I've had for years though... I would be confused and upset by moving to another browser.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I may read more about Opera, and if I get unhappy with Mozilla, I may switch.
How many browsers can a computer have installed at the same time anyway?
I have the default IE, and now, Mozilla. Can a person add even another?

I personally recommend Chrome

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I never tried chrome. I did try Safari, but it was a bit slower in XP than firefox.
Re: What the HELL is going on?
Yes, you can definitely download and install Opera with no problem at all. It's just another application.browneyedgirl wrote:I may read more about Opera, and if I get unhappy with Mozilla, I may switch.

IMO, Firefox has become the very thing that it once condemned in IE- bloated. I still use IE for work related stuff, as its integration with Microsoft's server products (as well as MS Office) is much tighter than other browsers. Also, when tied in with Microsoft's Active Directory and ISA/Forefront servers, is significantly more secure in a corporate environment.
Opera should be fine for you for use at home, and I personally like the product line so much, that I even use Opera Mini on my Blackberry- it's much better than RIM's default browser.
You can download the Windows version at this link:

Also, if you are manually running your updates, you most definitely need IE.
(and that is really annoying)

Re: What the HELL is going on?
Windows Update installs an ActiveX control to the browser, which is probably why IE is required, as other browsers don't support that type of extension.NeverendingAbyss wrote: Also, if you are manually running your updates, you most definitely need IE.

Personally, I'd rather deal with IE when running Windows Update than allowing Automatic Updates to put certain patches and/or drivers on my system that may not necessarily be needed.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I haven't really played with Vista. My sister has an Acer Vista laptop and I just use it because it has more RAM. I suppose Win7 has the same advantage?fernandotcl wrote:No longer an issue since Vista.NeverendingAbyss wrote: Also, if you are manually running your updates, you most definitely need IE.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I may download Opera today. The speed dial feature sounds good, especially for a dial-up user!
Re: What the HELL is going on?
Not bad at all the Mozilla. But I still use the IE, when Mozilla gets blocked in certain sites.

Re: What the HELL is going on?
i must be the funny one, i use firefox with:
- all-in-one sidebar, to make it looks like IE sidebar, but hide automatically
- chromifox + hide caption title bar, to make the theme looks exactly the same as chrome browser
- IE tab, to switch to IE inside firefox when necessary
i'm not a big fan of mouse gesture, else i will definitely get a gesture addon, to make it exactly like Opera.
that probably explains why i love Mozilla. it can do everything you imagine.
i use chrome too, but i have figured out that i can't live with a browser without Adblock/Auto Proxy/FEBE/CLEO/Text link/Refcontrol/FireFTP/...
so until chrome developers publish as many useful addons as firefox, i stick with mozilla.
(and for those who have too many addons and complain about the speed, try speedyfox once a while.)

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I am always amused that people have such fervent browser preferences.
Regardless of your choice, you type an address in the bar above and it takes you there in a reasonably timely fashion. :rotflmao1:
Ok, I admit I use Firefox because I love the Adblock add-on. Remember those days when the "A-Family" was at its peak, and we had the Priapus avatars? I eventually had to adblock those images so they wouldn't show up, so I could browse in public more freely.
And I also like the integrated spell checker and the way Google Web Favorites integrates. But those are really minor differences...

Re: What the HELL is going on?
I personally think all browsers suck. The web sucks. When you can't watch a video at a decent frame rate with a modern low-end computer, you've gotta realize the underlying technology sucks. That said, I don't think it could have been any different, as with any technology that evolves without good design backing it up.
I use Firefox because it annoys me the least (in spite of bugs that exist since it was called Firebird not having been fixed yet and some really annoying "features" like not allowing you to connect to "non-standard" ports or spitting out the most stupid error page ever when you connect to an HTTPS server using a self-signed certificate).
I don't like Chrome mainly because of the lack of configuration options (most notably, I want it to forget download history and I don't want it to look like a toy). IE 8 is not bad, but I'd rather use the same browser on all platforms. All the other options I've tried (Arora, Midori, etc.) are either not stable enough, not mature enough or simply lack vision.
In order to keep my sanity, I've been using feed readers to avoid unnecessary contact with the web.
