Tolkki vs. Romeo

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

You said it all, van alen--100% true!
BTW-Hasn't Tolkki lost a lot of weight? I saw the latest pics of him and he has slimmed down considerable!
Lookin' good! =P
And yes, he plays excellent guitar! He is one of the best...

Brownie, how can you say what's true if you haven't heard neither Tolkki nor Romeo live? "Word of mouth" is not good enough an argument to pass the quality control this time =P

(I mean, Romeo is generally considered the best riff-maker there is... And that's the truth! :eyes =P)

I have seen both Romeo and Tolkki on 12 April in Milan.

I was really impressioned by the qualities of Mike and,all right,it seems that he is better than Timo in thechnique but... I'm not so sure.

All right,Romeo plays with a great tapping and his style seems more thechnique than the style of Timo but after all he only plays scales.
Listen to TT in songs like TKOJ,SOS and others...
His tapping is unhuman!

And at the concert,if you look at the position of his nail in Stratofortress you won't be able to believe what he's doing...

Another point is the emotion, when Romeo makes a solo he didn't make you prove any emotions.
Well,Tolkki is very emotional on his solos (think about... A million light years away,Coming home,Paradise etc...)

So at the end...
ABSOLUTELY TOLKKI! :D

I clearly prefer Tolkki. His technique is far better than Romeo's and Romeo doesn't play with any emotion at all. I think he's only trying to impress people/make money.

"You said it best, flyingfinn!"

Thanks. I know. :)

Haven't you heard?!? Romeo is Tolkki and vice versa! They changed identities like in Face/Off to test their fanatic fans whether they could hear the difference... (Obviously they couldn't) :)

2 guitar player, 2 different style!!
I prefer Romeo for string skipping, but not for composition.
For Timo style I like alternate picking and I love its sound!!!
Great Timo T.
I play the guitar!
I love Power Metal!

I don't know a lot about guitar technique, but there is one thing I wanted to mention:

I've played a lot of different piano songs. And I discovered, that some songs are REALLY hard to play, and other songs are EASYIER to play eventhough they are twice as fast than the DIFFICULT songs.

Speed is not the only thing which makes songs difficult. You can play an ordinary scale very fast, but complex figures need more practice to be played fast.

So I'd suggest you listen carefully what kind of lines, scales and figures Tolkki and Romeo normally play and then come to your own conclusion which of them is better...

Que es mi dios mi libertad
Mi ley la fuerza y el viento
Mi única patria la mar.
