The first band I heard was Iron Maiden too, then came Metallica, and a thousand others. But Stratovarius really changed my ideology about metal music.
Anyway, the firts rock band I ever heard was Guns N' Roses (argh....)
That reminds me of a funny story, actually. When I was about 7, I saw some Motley Crue video on MTV and it inspired me to draw "tattoos" all over my arms with a pen. Then I put on my cool denim jacket and hopped on my bicycle (which I pretended was a motorcycle, of course)... and ran into somebody's mailbox. The woman came out of her house to help me and tried to take off my jacket, but I wouldn't let her because of all the artwork on my arms. I suddenly didn't feel so cool anymore.

iron maiden is a good band to begin with , once they´re not so heavy , and make a pretty acessable sound....everyone can hear that..(everyone hear that now......)

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain
I listened to Sepultura, Metallica, Deicide, Anthrax..
Thanks to my brother.. He also had the Fright Night when it was published, so Stratovarius counts in

First band that I really got into (of any genre) is KISS I was 10 years old and I was thinking "WOW! What the f*ck is this??? Awesome!" Later on I began to listen to W.A.S.P. , Guns´n ´Roses etc.

The first were Iron Maiden, Metallica, Sepultura, Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. The last three ones from the radio, and the others for friends. I was only 10-12 aprox.

Hello all. This is God Called In Sick Today from Barcelona. It's my first post here, but I will try to get along very well with you.
Well, my first metal bands were Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Slayer, if I can remember well. And it happened 4 or 5 years ago, but I still love these bands. Good old days are enjoyable to remember

Orgy, Korn, Limp Bizkit ....(kinda weird but i started with nü metal)....., then i was introduced to grunge...Nirvana, Pearl Jam (I still listen to them!!!) Then metallica....specifically Seek & Destroy...and a lot of more bands..then i found glory with Stratovarius....however my dad always had rock on his stereo i think the first things i heard were Elton John, Toto and The Beatles

It was mid 1980s when my brother gave me a couple tapes to listen to ... the classic white/yellowish looking tapes that they sold in record stores. They were Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and Power Slave .. after that more Maiden came in ... it was after listening to Maiden I started to ask my brother for more of his collection on Metal!!
I don´t really remember when I heard the first time metal, but metalband what I really listened for the first time was Sonata Arctica.
By the way Sonata Arctica is the best finnish power metalband!
If I remember correctly the first was Metallica.... But I didn't like it back then... But the band who pulled me in this world of metal was the one and only STRATOVARIUS and the song was Hunting High and Low.
Now I'm leaving my worries behind.
Feel the freedom of body and mind I have started my journey.
