Well their singer sounds like Black Metal, but the music is, in my opinion, plain and simple melodic power/heavy/speed metal. They are like Strato on drugs

I. There are no real growls. It sounds like Black Metal, but there are very rarely growls.

II. Their music is way to melodic, also for melodic DM, and there are too much keyboards. I actually can´t remember many DM band using keyboards

III. On the last cd the voice wasnt that extreme at all, it was sort of normal screaming... the cd wasnt that great in general i think

Seriously, the best Death Metal band for me are Naglfar or The Haunted. I can't think of actual Death Metal bands who are worth listening, that's mainly because I lost all my mp3 due to a virus I had a month ago and I can't remember too much of them. I'll still stick with The Haunted and Naglfar, nevertheless.

(My band is organizing a Chuck tribute show in Dec, really close to his death-anniversary. The management who also does Cryptopsy is helping us and we're REALLY trying to get them to play! We want a big crowd, since it's a benefit concert!!)

Anyway, who else?

-Amon Amarth (LOOOOVE Amon Amarth, nice guys too)
-Opeth
-All those CoB/Norther/Kalmah type bands (except Imperanon, they suck)... dunno if they're really Death, they're just... Metal. But who cares, they're good.
-Scent of Flesh is awesome. Everyone's complaining that they're too much of a Deicide rip off, but I like them. Nice to hear brutal Death Metal from Finland, it's a nice change from the other stuff.
-Garden of Shadows - -AMAZING band, though very obscure.
-Battlesword is good too, they're like... Melodic Death from Germany. If you like Amon Amarth or Gothenburg shit you'll like them.

Yeah. Had the same problem. In the beginning it sounded like someone dying of sadness in a horrible way. After an hour i couldnt stand it anymore.. but now i think they are very great. Especially the softer stuff..
