Dreamspace or Fourth Dimension?

Post by Big Red » Thu Oct 21, 2004 4:15 pm

I know I'm probably the millionth user to ask this, but I want to know which of the two I should buy next. Only getting one. Please tell me which is your favorite and why. And, more importantly, which one has the most fast-paced songs? Thanks guys. And yes I just registered. And yes it was just for this.

Well, the difference is obvious: Tolkki sings on Dreamspace, Kotipelto on Fourth Dimension. Both these men have beautiful singing voices.
As far as the music, this is a damn toughie! Dreamspace is raw emotion expressed as only TT can express feeling through his music. Fourth Dimension is faster paced, sure.

Isn't there a way you can hear these albums before you buy?
I love both&cannot really make an objective choice for you.
Personally, I like Dreamspace a bit better, but thats my opinion.

Fourth Dimension was the second Stratovarius' album I bought on 1997, right after buying Visions and realize I just discovered the best band in the world :D

I really love that album, it has a lot of feeling, power and speed. And Kotipelto's voice is the best for me. I only dislike the weird 030366 song, but ok, nothing is perfect (but Visions, that's a perfect album!)

I like Dreamspace too, but I have the feeling that there's something missing (maybe the voice?), it's a good album too, in fact, all Strato's albums are good, very good, all of them worth it!

I'd recommend Fourth Dimension too.

It was the album in which Strato began it's path to the albums that came afterwards (Episode and Visions), and is, without a doubt, a piece of art. :D

Fourth Dimension, no doubt, though it's something personal, the album is my favorite from Strato. Surely sooner or later you will need to have both, but just hear the Kotipelto's voice in this album, and be prepared to the shock!

Amazing album.

If you are a pure fan of Stratovarius (Kotipelto singing + fast songs) -> Fourth Dimension
If you want a good album that will shake your feelings up and down -> Dreamspace.
The best is that you download a sample from those albums (you can do in Strato.com -> MP3) and judge by yourself.

It's hard to choose. Dreamspace is an album with a lot of highly emotional songs, yet Fourth Dimension also has it's charm with many good songs.

Since you said you wanted fast-paced songs, then I suggest you take Fourth Dimension. However, you SHOULD get Dreamspace as well, the album is too good to be neglected!

I think Dreamspace has just more fast songs then Fourth Dimension, hasn´t it?

Fast Songs on Dreamspace: Chasing Shadows, Hold On To Your Dream, Shattered, We Are The Future, Magic Carped Ride

Fast Songs on Fourth Dimension: Against The Wind, Distant Skies, Lord Of The Wasteland and probably Twilight Symphony

To me it's Dreamspace, the main reason being Tolkki's singing.
His vocals had developed much from twilight time.. not even mentioning fright night. Also, the songs were very different concerning composure, which worked very well.

I'm not trying to bring down 4th Dimension here, not at all.. I think it is a great album, with great tracks. It is just the fact that Kotipelto's singing wasn't as developed back then, than it was on Episode, Visions, and so on,
that keeps me from voting for it.

I like Dreamspace more, because Tolkki sings.
He has such a great singing voice. Sometimes, one wants to listen to a vocalist with a little more substance. Koti is great too, don't get me wrong, but on certain songs, Tolkki is irreplacable!

great thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'll most likely be getting 4th Dimension before Dreamspace from what was posted here, but I'll probably end up with both.
