Dimebag Darrel Killed

Post by Holy Light » Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:39 am

Supposedly Dimebag Darrel was killed at a show in Ohio. He was shot along with another one of his bandmates. I've heard it happened an hour or two ago. I guess it was some guy in the crowd who open fired on them during the show. It's really ashame that he got shot, none the less, while performing. R.I.P. Dimebag

Really don't know the guy, but...Ohio!? Hmm...that seems odd for a rock star to get shot in Ohio. Oh well, may God have mercy on his soul :shake:
Somehow I still have an account...yay...?

Columbus, Ohio, of all places. In other words, where I live. And apparently Vinnie Paul was also killed. ;_;

So tragic.....and no one will ever know why this happened because the guy responsible was shot, too.
Was he a crazed fan, or just crazy?

My son likes Pantera, and he has a small poster of Dimebag Darrell on his wall. He will be shocked when I tell him.

RIP :(

The question is how the hell he brought a gun to the concert? I don't know what's security like in USA, but here in Israel anything remotely resembling metal is inspected ...

I was shocked to read this when I got up this morning. 5 dead, several critically wounded...this shouldn't have been allowed to happen.

It's very sad! The guy screamed something like this when he stormed the stage:"you broke up pantera.... you ruined my life.... what about phil??? he needs heroin money..."

I hope the usa-fellows won't take it bad, but I can't really stand that in a country supposedly civilized one can jump on a stage and shoot whoever he wants for such futile reasons. And that everyone can bear weapons, even one who's completely mad and just shoots people 'cause he woke up in a bad mood. I think we need to think about this... :cry:

no I'm sorry but in Italy such things don't happen. No way someone can get guns that easily, believe me. And in other countries of the world too. and no way there's no cops at the entrance checking what you carry.

Wake up. I've been on venues all over the world, and unless it's a hugh arena, there are no police check and so on. Securety-guards might check your backpack, but a gun can be smuggled everywhere. I havent been to a venue in Italy yet, but Ive been in Spain and Portugal, and I doubt they are that much more strict there.

woke up at 5.30 am thanks. what I want to underline is that such things, like such mass-killings happen in the usa much more than in other countries. And I think that having guns sold so freely doesn't help. Point. Then if we want to discuss about security at gigs, I can tell you I've always been checked, from big arenas to clubs. If it's not the cops, it's the internal security staff. But imo this is a detail. the point is too much "freely-sold" weapons. don't you think? :?:

This was not really a mass-killing. It could have evolved to it, if it wasnt for the fast police officer. I Norway the police doesnt even carry guns unless there is a bank robbery and they have to pick it up at the station. If something like this would have happened there, there would have been more people dead.
I agree, there is way to much "freely-sold" weapons, in the states, and in other countryes! The world would be safer if that stopped. But I doubt it will. I have never been checked in small venues, only backpack, and you usually have to leave your jacket behind. But thats it. I hope this will not turn in to a trend. A consert is an easy target.
This is a very sad thing!

Agree with you hatescream, as we were talking about, here in SP I was checked in ALL gigs I went, not by the cops but by the security staff... once they took me away some pens I had in my bag cause I could use that to hurt someone.
Brazil may be a third world country but we have some tough laws against carrying weapons. We have some government programs for changing guns for a sum of money... I've never seen such thing happening in the USA. Here even if you know the right person is really, really difficult to buy a gun, believe me... my father was a cop and I know how it works.

The point is that the difference between the USA and Brazil for example, is that we have thieves carrying illegal guns and killing people... in the USA you have common people buying LEGAL guns in every corner and killing others just because they woke up in a bad mood.
The violence in Brazil is a consequence of misery, political reasons and so on... and in the USA?? What is the reason for this kind of violence?

Regarding security at gigs, I can say I've never even once been checked by security guards or anything at any gig I've ever attended. Ok, the likelihood of someone bringing a gun here in Finland might not be that great, but...that's how it usually goes, isn't it...security is lax until the moment something happens.

Holy Shit!
I´ve just saw it on the news!
God Lord, what a sad thing.
And reading what Anselmo said, boy, he must be feeling like shit now...

Damn, Pantera was a great band, but we have no right to demand anything from the band members, wheter they wanted to split or not. It´s everybody´s fault, actually. I just can´t believe that psyco wanted to kill Dimebag because of that....gosh, this is sick!

R.I.P. Dimebag, you were one hell of a guitar player, and metal music will certainly miss you....

off-topic, what a dick:
"I think I proved clearly to everybody what I was in PANTERA! And what I was was a unique, unbelievably magnetic frontman that had not been around since the days of Robert Plant and Ozzy Osbourne. I am one in a million. . . I have staying power! I have a devoted following that would do anything for me! Anything that I say. And there's not many people that can say that, that are in my position"
"He would attack me, vocally. And just knowing that he was so much smaller than me I could kill him like a fuckin' piece of vapor, you know, he would turn into vapour — his chin would, at least, if I fuckin' smacked it. And he knows that. The world should know that. So physically, of course, he deserves to be beaten severely"

you see natas, it's just this I was refearing when speaking of freely sold weapons. I think it's quite linear:
1- Anselmo say this shit, without thinking to possible consequences;
2- Some mad guy reads it, and thinks phil's right and that darrel should be "beaten severely";
3- This madman buys a gun and then goes to kmart and buys ammos, like he was buying bread or clothes;
4- goes to the gig and shoots Darrel.

Ok, it can happen everywhere. Not just the usa. But I think such things had happened quite a lot of times there in the last years: columbine high school, the ones that were shooting to people at gas stations in new jersey, little child that goes to school and shoots his 6 year old classmate just thinking he was joking... I mean it would really scare me if I knew that anyone could go to the supermarket near my house and buy ammos... of course this guy was mad, he could have use a knife or whatever, if he wanted to kill darrel he would have tried anyway, but I think it's too damn easy to get armed and fulfill mad plans like this man did. And we should not forget he didn't killed just darrel, he shoot to death other 4 persons and started shooting to the crowd. I wonder what would happen if that policeman wasn't nearby in that moment...

I guess what most people need to realize is that here in the US, people can get access to the stage or main grounds easily. Its a big risk, but they can do a lot of damage. Take the Piston-Pacers basketball game on Nov. 19. Even though the whole thing started off that a drunk-ass fan threw a beer at Ron Artest and Artest chased after him, when Artest came back down, a bunch of piss-drunkass fans came down to the basketball court and were beating the living shit out of these guys. And, when the Pacers were returning back to their locker room, fans were throwing beer and drinks at them. Point in case is that special event here do not get much security because they assume that the people will be on their best behavior :roll: !!!
Somehow I still have an account...yay...?

I'm from Portugal. I honestly don't know how it's like in other countries, but in small gigs... the control is really, really weak.

On bigger gigs, with 5k+ peeps on the assistance, things change. There's no way you can get a gun/knife on stage. Or it's, at least, really hard, and not worth the risk (illegal gun possession gets you 2+ years in jail)

I remember during Rock in Rio 2004, here in Lisbon, there were like.. 5, 6 checkpoints where they would check you for metals, check your backpack and all that sort of crap..

But yeah, I believe security here isn't much more strict than in other countries. The question is: do people here carry guns as often as in the US? I don't think so :wink:

If you know the right person, you can buy a gun everywhere!

Ofcourse not. But if you are a mad man who wants to kill somebody. A gun is not that hard to get a hold of.
