All the ones that I have read were about people wishing that this would happen or rumors. According to the website I was on this is confirmed.

I hope they will play in a city near me, or I can travel there. If not, at least they will be here&once a band comes here one time they always do repeat preformances! :rvd:

Lets hope this is just the first of many tours to NA!!!:D :ola:

I think the legions of the northeast should all get together and meet and go to the concert together- that would be the best!

*********** AMEN TO THAT*************

I'm in Erie PA where we never get concerts, but I'll go to freakin Atlanta if (heaven forbid) they only play there. Hopefully they'll come to NY or somewhere more north as well.

So damn pumped...I nearly cried when I read about it.

I plan to get myself down to Atlanta IF I can get a ticket. (This is an extremely small venue)

I do hope they play some other dates/cities here as well.

Not that I've heard yet.

In the past, quite often, when bands play ProgPowerUSA it is their only North American performance.

I hope not. Since they finally made it here they should play EVERYWHERE! After all, we've waited Sooo long. And after last year, never thought it could ever happen.

Well, I have learned not to get my hopes up too high for anything anymore, no matter how trivial--there is always some jerk or jerkette or something, around to mess things up.....especially if they know something will make you happy! :) I'll just try my best when the time comes to go.

However, if they have a tour which brings them to Florida if I have to crawl on my hands&knees I will go! I don't think they'd waste their time coming to a podunk state like Alabama! :D

I heard Sentenced was going to have a tour&Fintroll&Nightwish ??? We are Screaming For More, always! Its the Invasion of the Finns this year&next in USA, I reckon! :D
Seriously, the Finns have some very good bands, and so do the Swedes!

And we would LOVE to have you play for us!! We have been waiting an awfully long time! It seems like an unbelievable dream come true that you are finally coming to the states. I thought it would never happen.

I was actually very lucky to see you perform at Tavastia in Helsinki last May and it was truly a bittersweet event thinking my metal buddies back home would never share the experience. BTW, I got one of those shirts you guys were giving out and Timo K. signed it for me at ProgPower last year. I hope the rest of you won't mind signing it at ProgPower this year. I will surely be there!! :headbang:

I hope you are able to schedule a truly extensive tour and hit as many cities as possible. I think you all will be amazed at how many fans you have over here. I, for one, am lucky, living near New York City, because everyone plays there! (B.B. Kings? )

Yes, I think you're right. Who would have thought that, of all countries, Finland would prove to be the new Seattle! I always thought of elk, snow, Santa Claus, people drinking and eating too much, and MTV's Yukka Brothers when I thought of Finland. Until I heard Visions by Stratovarius, that is...

In their wake a lot of other great bands (Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, and The Rasmus to name but a few) have risen to stratosperic heights at the moment. I guess it will be just a matter of months until they crack the states. Let's hope that such an invasion will finally signal the demise of the current monopoly of nu metal, r&b, hip hop, and (c)rap in one fell swoop. I'm getting a little sick of watching only rappers on music television. I think it's time for a change. Can Finnish music achieve what a Swedish band like Europe (perhaps helped by the success of Abba, but - nah - probably not) did in the eighties? None of the greedy music companies wanted to sign them in the early eighties because a "Swedish hard rock band would never make it big time." Well, I guess 6.5 million copies of "The Final Countdown" single showed those record company talent scouts were not exactly accurate. By way of comparison: that song still stands as Epic's biggest selling single of all time. So, here's to hoping that Stratovarius will write their very own "Final Countdown" soon.

By the way, have you ever listened to a Dutch band called Within Temptation? I happened to hear them on the radio this morning, and I was struck by the sound quality of their last record. Excellent! Some would say they are a lot like Nightwish (hardly an insult), but I'd say they have developed their very own sound, which somehow manages to encapsulate the music of Kate Bush and Therion in its own little sonic realm. I remember going to see them play live in a small club (about 30 people were there) somewhere in the late nineties (one of my friends played in their support band), but now that they have become a much better band, they are playing to stadium-size audiences. I think I'm going to buy this one. It's called The Silent Force. Check it out!

Great Post, Damien! You said it all! 2005 will not be a boring music-oriented year for the world, thats for sure! :D I think this year the whole world is going to have a blast, in all genres of music. I think that is good, because Music is one way to forget your problems for a while&its so much distress in the world these days. Music does calm&thats what we all need.

Absolutely! 2005 is turning into an incredibly explosive and exciting year for metal in North America. Strato, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, and Finntroll....Finntroll!!??? Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought a band with humppa influences who sing in Swedish would come here! I love this band, I just hope others are open-minded enough to get into them too.

I pray you're right about the end of the death grip nu-metal, r&b, hip hop and other similar sh*t have on the music scene. To me these are such limited styles of music with very little creativity and musicianship I can't understand how they've dominated for so long. The majority of the population's brains must be mush. BTW, the Swedish band Evergrey has 3 songs on MTV and are putting up a fourth. There's hope.

As for Within Temptation, it's great to see more people discovering them. They've been around since 1996 but have evolved quite a bit. Lots of growls in the beginning which has kind of faded away over the years ( :( ) but Sharon's voice and their compositions have really evolved. I recommend watching the Mother Earth tour DVD, that's how I really fell in love with them.

There's a good review of their latests release, The Silent Force here:

Yeah, Within Temptation are pretty cool. I'll be attending their gig here in June at the Atlantic Pavillion (approximately 20k capacity I believe), but.. mostly because they're supporting Iron Maiden.

Also, Judas Priest will be here promoting their new album in April (hopefully they'll bring either Queensrÿche, Dio or In Flames with them..), so I'll be attending that.. Hopefully there'll be more gigs in the summer, I'm hoping for Hammerfall, Stratovarius.. :)

HEY STRATO! Even though i'm currently living in Tennessee (the hellhole), i'm getting ready to move to Phoenix, Arizona in a month or so. And no, i'm not going to try to woo you to play there just because i'm going to be there. You see, part of the reason i'm moving to Pheenix is because they have an INTENSE metal scene! Strato could definately fill a club, or perhaps a stadium there. It has also just become the fifth biggest city (by population) in the U.S.

And hey, you even have a song with the same name as the place, so why not?
