They are going to play two new strato songs in our radio
I just saw, that in one of our rock radio, they are going to play two new strato songs this sunday. I´m just interested, if they are able to play it? I think, that it isn´t good, that they want to play it, four moths before, it will be release...

Did Stratovarius give permission? It seems in poor taste to play them, but on the other hand, it may sell more CDs, and more tickets. Also, create more new fans.
So, there is a good, and bad side to that!

If the record company gave permission (I don't know the details of Stratovarius' contract!) then that's the only way they're allowed to play them on the radio. If they didnt give permission that's infringement of copyrights, a criminal offence.CottonCandy wrote:Did Stratovarius give permission? You're right, that's infringement of copyrights. But In despite of if the band haven't given the permission, there are so much medias who takes advantages of that..NeonVomit wrote:If the record company gave permission (I don't know the details of Stratovarius' contract!) then that's the only way they're allowed to play them on the radio. I doubt that a public radio station would so clearly and obviously break copyright laws. If they did, well I'm sure Noise Records would jump on their case.Patricia wrote:

Re: They are going to play two new strato songs in our radio
I don't know what the laws are in other countries, but I have seen many rock radio stations here in the States play songs before the album's release. Now, technically, most radio stations start playing a band's songs about a month or two before an album is released anyway, usually because they have been sent the promo album or single by the record company. But I have known rock stations to start playing singles from albums as early as when someone lifts an MP3 from somewhere. I remember our rock station was playing stuff off the last Puddle of Mudd album several months before it was released, because someone happened to have the album on MP3. And because radio is a fiercely competitive business, record companies seem to overlook this because they know that radio play means better album sales. So usually they seem to let this go on because they hope in the end that if the single is being played so far in advance, it will make people more excited for the album and more people will buy it.
