Don't get me wrong here, I really love Jari as a bass player BUT to replace a bass player in a band like Stratovarius won't make much difference to their music.

@JEngstrom: Don't get me wrong you too, but certainly it does!
Put a crap bassist to play strato songs and you’ll notice the difference!

Thank God Lauri Porra is not a crap bassist! :D
That was a good choice. But, is he permanent or just for the tour?

Well, from the things I've been reading, I guess he's a permanent member. Can't think of a better guy to assume this position.

Just think about it, when Tolkki wanted Anders stay permanently. Porra will stay permanently.

I still think Jari is one of the best bassists in metal. I seriously put him up there with Steve DiGiorgio and John Myung. Definately the best in Europe.

Oh, just noticed the news on the main page.

Well its not THAT terrible. Jari is happy now, right? Jari never flew in the face of public opinion and never made himself any trademarks or anything. Lauri Porra can easily replace him. Just need to get used to it first, thats all.

Interesting use of the word "avert". Are you sure that's what you meant? Anyway, you certainly can continue loving him, just in a different band.

Snipped this from the Finnish side of the board

Jari Kainulainen @ Soundi magazine
I just got enough. I thought that it is better leave now. I had been thinking about it for an year already, but now came up a phase that, perkele, I'll be going. I could have gone along on the tour, but I just figured out that I'd better resign. There wasn't any drama in it. I'm still in contact with Kotipelto and Jens.
According to Soundi- magazine in Jari's new band play Atte Sarkima of Ajattara on drums and background vocalist [and keyboard/sampler player] of Tarot, Tommi Salmela. At the moment they are looking for a guitarist. The new bad will have influences from Black Sabbath, Dio and Pantera to name a few. Let's wait and see... 8)
