Sad thing is not only "Years go by" is to high for Kotipelto. He is a good vocalist, but it seems like he doesn`t know or doesn`t accept the borders of his abilitys. Some of the material of the Elements albums are defintly too high for him, like "Learning to fly" or "Find your own voice", I heard it live, he just screamed some not understandable phrases.
Don`t wanna compare myself to Kotipelto or make some sort of "advertising" for it, but I´m a vocalist in my own band - not professionell of course, and I`m very carefull how to sing and in what height.

Kotipelto sang very high cause Tolkki wanted him to. In his solo albums he sings much lower.

Anathem of the world is a masterpiece...even this song is high but it seems that less hard to sing by Kotipelto.
However I think that there are some songs where Kotipelto goes high as in years go by, but the effect is better. I'm speaking about some passages in Falling into fantasy or Visions or Before the Winter. I adore the last...in the one the singer goes sometimes very high and in other points quite bass...

Yeah, "anthem of the world" is great, especially the end. There Kotipelto isn`t singing too high. And Before the winter is cool, too. Kind of dark and sad, and the solo is awsome.
Listening to other songs (for example some parts of Twilight Symphony or Destiny or the end of Black Diamond) I asked to myself why in some songs Kotipelto goes higher than in years go by and in this last song he seems quite forced...this is the impression...

Sharon den Adel sings higher than Tarja, just listen to Angels...
Yes, Sharon sings higher than Tarja - I like her very much in "Memories", awsome song - but Tarja has a stronger voice. Sharon`s voice gets a little thin higher heights.

Mmh .... taste is different. I think it`s a good song, very good to start off an album or a live-gig. But as I said, taste is different

Ok, ok: Koti is the second highest because of Tarja
Find Your Own Voice!
Ok but there are some works that none can say nothing bad about and instead there are some works that are not so well done.. there are some works in which it seems that even Kotipelto goes too high...I can't say he isn't one of the best voices that we can hear but he has a limit...he is a human...

Talking about Koti's performance, any other song is worst than Know the Difference....
I also think Find Your Own Voice's line vocals suck... I do prefer Koti in his limits, and so he can show all his voice power, like in Destiny or We Hold the Key, etc, etc, etc....

Yeah, exaclty. Find your own voice is horrible, Koti`s is too high here. I heard a live version of that song, okay was bad sound quality, but you couldn`t understand Koti, were just strange screams.
Sorry that I rise that old topic after a while , but I noticed that I can´t see the original version of Future Shock as a good song in any ways. I listened it yesterday for a long time (because just finally get the 96-version and compared them then) and it sounded horrible. Except the good guitar solo. It´s too much like a stuffy demo made by teenagers in a garage. I understand though that the song is one of their oldest ones which is released but... When comparing it to the other Fright Night´s songs it also sounds for me like a half-finished demo.
But still I consider that Thin Ice and the dance-beat oriented Run Away are more terrible ones.
"I shall seize Fate by the throat; it shall certainly not bend and crush me completely"
Well, to be honest, there isnt a Strato song that i dislike...sure some of them are...uh....unique...but thats not reason for me to dislike them. ThinIce was an instant favorite for me from the first time i heard it! It was so creepy...i loved it! and i still do! It's better than sex! but thats just my opinion. Full Moon, well, i truely thought it to be a great song! and i was shocked at the amount of people that didnt like E1! That was my first, and favorite Strato album! but once again, its just my opinion.

It's nice to see this kind of opinions sometimes! Don't get me wrong, I do disagree, but "revolutionary" opinions are great. Like me liking Elements (the song).

Well, it seems only Fanius seems to hate the Elements song badly, at least I haven´t heard or read here many others dislikes of that song. I like it too quite much, though Vagabond and Fantasia are better than that one for me.
Yes, the ancient Nintendo-wawe sound is really something odd. But still I don´t consider that a piece of crap.

Ehh, sorry to disappoint you, but I don't like Elements much either. It's just too long for me.
And I'm starting to like Full Moon...
By the way, have you noticed how critical Fanius is on his opinions? And when someone has a different opinion, he jumps right into you expressioning his own opinions. He acts like his opinions are the most sensible and we should think the same way he does. Starts to be a little annoying... No offense though.

I agree. If you don't like something, then don't, but that doesn't mean that everyone else should dislike too.

Agreed. But no offense though, everyone has a different nature and a way of doing things and everyone has a different opinion too. The rough truths of life.
