Find your own voice... Find your own style...
Tolkki's guitar style has been emulated many times, by many players, and the wannabes never exceed, or even come close to the originals. Trying to play exactly like Tolkki will no make you a good musician, you have to discover your own style of play for yourself.

i think its inposibble to play at that speed with no alternate picking
by the way is cool if he want to learn tolkki style, he is not a pro, he is just learning that does not mean that he will copy his style

Tolkki is hard to reproduce. I think he's very spiratic with his playing. Tolkki has some awesome phrasing and very cool way of putting solos together. My playing is much different, but I'm sure you can hear some influence. I like Tolkki's rhythmic approach. It's just this natural flow that comes out of his playing.

yeah, he can place slow solos right next to god like scales right next to each other (4000 rainy nights, dreamweaver) but what really makes him my favorite guitarist is his ability to play reallly really fast but flawlessly, cleanly and musically (not just really fast noise a la deathmetal IMO)

Timo's style is unique. He doesnt use any unique techniques, but he sounds like TT whenever he plays, which is the most important thing for any musician.
I think he's one of the best in metal, and one of the most versatile all-round guitarists anywhere.

This guy's style is similar to Tolkki's, he is a rising star in the Prog genre. I think he is pretty good--but, thats just my opinion.
I hope its OK to post mp3's--if not, I'll edit them out later.
