I live next door to the coffee factory in Helsinki and the days they roast the smell around my neighbourhood is heavenly...I quit coffee over a year ago but still I yearn for it...

Re: Drugs on stage...
Its a personal decission of every member of each band!
Some drugs help to the musicians to decide to create music... for example The Doors or Pink Floyd... Deep Purple... its a big list.
Not is a syn, not is a good point
Its only a decission, risky or good? exists examples for the two cases.
Whitout drugs a lot of bands... will never be created

Yeah, but the time changed. I mean in the 70ies it was usual to consum drugs before show, but today with drugs you maybe give a bad performance and the crowd isn't happy. crowd want to see a good band, good performance and a great show and I think with drugs it isn't nearly impossible to give the crowd what they want...
I see that drugs is still a big theme in the music business. Often Rock walks hand in hand with the drugs or better: any people still think that is the fact. But I suppose it isn't so.
Everybody knows, in the 70ies the band consumed drugs, had groupies all night were drunken all the time. Today, a band drunken the tour? close to impossibility, isn't it? Touring any months and ever be drunken? The body is getting sick and the performance will be worster from time to time. Or am I the only one with this meaning?

Re: Drugs on stage...
Well, hate to break this to you but bands do drink today on tour...a lot. And use drugs. Especially in the metal circles. It's just a question who can hack it. But it is true that in general bands take a lot more professional view on touring today as a rule. Still, the rigours of the road are made easier when intoxicated...sad but true.nepi wrote: Today, a band drunken the tour? close to impossibility, isn't it? Touring any months and ever be drunken? I'm sorry but i think that not all the bands drink a lot on tour. And who uses drugs now?Kurva Bicha wrote:Well, hate to break this to you but bands do drink today on tour...a lot. And use drugs. I think as Nepi said, the things have changed nowadays..
I think some bands keep on drinking, of course, but the others are more professionals... They can drink sometimes, when they have a party, but not certainly all the time.

Agree with you. For example, the guys from Iron Maiden don't drink every day, but only when they have something to celebrate (b-days, the ends of tours, etc). For the drugs, only the Stones and Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister are consuming them.Patricia wrote:I'm sorry but i think that not all the bands drink a lot on tour. Toutes choses étant égales, par ailleurs, la solution la plus simple est toujours la meilleure.

Re: Drugs on stage...
Did I say that ALL bands drink? No. But having toured the last 10 years with several metal bands all over the globe (including dozens of festivals every summer, when the bands meet each other and party...) I have a rather more cynical view on the subject. Then again I do not see the use of alcohol as necessarily bad when you are on the road. Especially if you are pro enough to play good shows and not let the drink get the upper hand on you. Not all people who drink are raging alcoholics and most people can handle playing a bit drunk and not fok up their shows because of it.Patricia wrote:I'm sorry but i think that not all the bands drink a lot on tour. Drugs...well, the amount of musicians who smoke weed especially onb the road would prolly kida amaze you, especially american musicians. On the other hand the use of hard drugs and psychedelics has in my mind decreased radically.

The fact is that some pro musicians don't like to drink before the shows.
Not all but most of them now.
You talk about Guns'n'roses for example?Drugs...well, the amount of musicians who smoke weed especially onb the road would prolly kida amaze you, especially american musicians.
