My vote went to Bruce Dickinson for best album. With 2nd runner up being Helloween. Tyrrany Of Souls is the perfect album in my mind. Plenty of heavy components, a nice acoustic ballad (one of my personal faves), and great hard rock track all brilliantly conceived in the brilliant vocals of the almighty Iron Maiden frontman. This is his best album, even though I love Accident Of Birth and Chemical Wedding.

Re: Stratoforum Awards 2005
So many good albums released in this year! My fav is Stratovarius, but it was a difficult choice; Black Halo is very good too! and Tools of Destruction also! So I can say it was a good year
What I miss on the list is Primal Fear with Seven Seals - this is awesome!

I was listening to Seven Seals last night along with Keeper of the Seven Keys III. Primal Fear is an awesome band. Speaking of Scheeper of Sinner, I look foward to the Tribuzy dvd being released. Nothing like seeing a metal super group with a line up like this.

Re: Stratoforum Awards 2005
Well, I think Sonata has managed to vary their style within their albums, WHG is already somewhat different than Silence and Ecliptica and RN is yet more progressive one. But that´s just my opinion.cliff wrote: You know, some bands can play the same music for 4 or 5 albums, and then, as a "fan" you think "why should I buy the new album, if it's exactly the same as the others". (Primal Fear or Sonta Arctica, for ex).
You don't like some of their musicians ? Which one(s) ?
Personally I hate their bass player, he is everything I hate in someone.
But the other musicians seem really ok.
I don´t like them all, except Viialan leka (Mirka). Specially I can´t stand Nino Laurenne (though he seems to be good in his another job - Sonic Pump -). I don´t like the most his comments and I think he is very crappy guitarist. Both TT´s and Roope´s featuring solos are million times better than his own solos. Just for example.
About the poll, I voted for Gamma Ray´s Majestic. The album is funny and I love the sounds. Stratovarius is good but as I´ve said not extremely good.

I've actually deicded that The Killers 'Hot Fuss' is the best album of 2005

It's a good album indeed. really interesting bass playing there. I payed 1,99€ for this on the French Itunes storehtcdude wrote:I've actually deicded that The Killers 'Hot Fuss' is the best album of 2005
My vote goes to Masterplan. Even though it's a "commercial" album (it really sounds like they got a huge hand from their producer!), it is really brilliant. New At Vance is great too.
new Dickinson... mmm. it's a "ok" album, but in my opinion, it's always the same melodies, the same kind of songs and so on.

Re: Stratoforum Awards 2005
It's a split between Stratovarius and Dream Theater.
Helloween's latest offering is weak at best. If I had gotten a chance to hear it before I bought it I may not have.
Admittedly, this isn't my favorite Stratovarius album either. However, Stratovarius could put out an album of Elvis covers and I would still buy it. My favorite band, thats why I post here.
I was a bit dissapointed in Yngwie's new one. Yngwie hasn't had a good vocalist since Michael Vescara. Consequently, his rock material is getting stale. Doogie White stinks, and the second go around with Marc Boals was a shade worse than Doogie. Marc was good on Trilogy though. I say bring back Joe Lynn Turner, Goran Edman, or Mike Vescara, otherwise he should stick to instrumental rock where he has few equals.
Steve Vai's new one is good, but like Stratovarius' new one, it isn't my favorite.

..so, I'll just have to second your opinion. All points for Bruce for one hell of an album.
Also, props for Strato for renewing my hope in the band with their fresh sound. The new material is really good IMO.

Re: Stratoforum Awards 2005
This was a really tough list to sort through. I loved the new Children of Bodom, new Helloween, and a bunch of other stuff on that list. But I felt that it had to go to Dickinson, he always releases consistently great music and just when you think he can't possibly come out with something better than the previous work he comes out with something like Tyranny of Souls. Dickinson and Roy Z make such a great team. Speaking of Roy Z, I hope that Halford does not completely give up his solo career. I loved that stuff too.shaz wrote:Woah, I was going to write this but you beat me to it..TrialByFire wrote:My vote went to Bruce Dickinson for best album. With 2nd runner up being Helloween.
