Playing guitar

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

Playing guitar

Post by Ahlimatainen » Wed Feb 22, 2006 12:54 pm

I've been playing guitar for some years now... And when I looked at for example : jani liimatainens and michael romeos young guitar vid I realized that they have their guitar on their left lap... I have mine om my right :? Does it make a difference?

Not really. I've seen classical guitarists play in both ways. Just pick one way and stick to it.

on the left lap you have to lift your left heel a little and it becomes the same position you take when you stand, some people find it comfortable...

Oh did I miss this topic earlier?

Well anyway, I use both ways, but for left hand the left leg position is easier when doing insane stretches, and it also lets my right arm be more relaxed down from the shoulder and elbow in more comfortable angle. Indeed it's more like standing up position for posture and more like having the guitar strap longer when standing, not having the guitar up your chin.

Best way of course is to stand up. You got legs for dancing and jumping, why not have all the fun even when practising? XD

I hear you, I usually play standing but leaning against the wall or my bed, more comfortable

Doesn't matter which leg. I sit my guitar on the right. By the way, Romeo totally owns. A true master. I love his playing.

Details are still iffy, but the best case scenario is one week to paris, 5 days in rome, 5 in london and about a month in spain, bilbao most of the time
