Once is not metal? Are you sure we're listening to the same cd? It is only the heaviest release they have done.

On the guitar one, seriously I have heard better guitar players than Tolkki. I couldn't even think to equate him with Malmsteen.

On the blues part, that one never really bothered me. It is great to know the great music involved in the spawning of metal.

Black metal, that one is so true no matter how much the hard core blackmetallers want to deny it.

LOL. Vaffanculo sounds similar. We Hungarians say it as vaffankúró. Kúró means fuckler, but as somebody who is fucking someone else.

Seriously, I absolutely HATE when people imply that all metal sounds the same!!

It's anecdote time! Today I was listening to Warmachine at work, and one of the older guys approaches me and says something like 'Wow! Sounds like old school metal! This reminds me of SlayerMegadethIronMaidenPanteraAnthraxExodousDio!'

WHAT? ? ? ?

Like they have anything to do with one another.

Half an hour later I'm playing Stratovarius. The same guy comes over and says, "Hey, who's this?"
"Stratovarius"
"What?"
"Strat. O. Vari. Us."
"Hey, they kind of sound like, uh..."
"No, stop talking. Whatever you're about to say is wrong."
"Haha, you know really who they remind me of?"
"Let me guess. Metallica?"
"Actually, Stryper! Do you know who Stryper is?"
"Oh, for the fucking love of....fuck! For fuck's sake! You're not allowed to borrow my tools anymore!"

I was so bent out of shape after that, I actually decided to play pop CDs for the rest of the day.

The moral of the story is, yes, it will piss off a metalhead if you violate #s 5 or 16, or both at the same time.

On topic, it is quite annoying when someone asks me "oh you listen to metal? they all sound the same", especially when said person listens to punk bands and pop singers, who DO sound the same!

About satan worshipping, I remember a friend I had a mini arguement with... When she knew that I listen to metal, she told me: "but that's bad, that music is evil, why don't you listen to something else" I answered: "'cause this is the music I like, I don't like the other common genres, and is not evil" and in my mind: "ass**le. why do you think that all the things that are not common are evil, what a closed mind"
