very surprised at this result.. i highly expected it to be episode or perhaps fourth dimension... but i guess the new people to stratovarius would start with visions/the elements.. and not actually hear about the older (much better :D) stuff for a while.. pity

I'm not, Visions and Episode are their most popular albums usually and they're also my personal favourites. Only surprise to me is that some users have voted for Elements part 2 :err:

Maybe it's time to check out

In my opinion that song is just a piece of plastic sh*t with horrible sounds and booooooooooooring playing, IMO it's one of the weakest songs from Strato's whole career. But I've said this already million times, so I don't continue...

I think it's up there with the best of them, definately the best track on the album!

@Fanius: Future Shock sounds too crazy in my opinion, made by newbies in the garage actually. The only good thing in it is the great solo. Otherwise there´re some good songs on Fright Night too like the title track and Darkness. :)

I also think that Know the difference quite a weak one. The sounds are really too "plastic". My order could be like this

1. EPISODE
2. Visions
3. II/Twilight Time
---
4. Infinite
5. Dreamspace
6. Intermission
7. Stratovarius
8. Fourth Dimension
9. Elements pt1
---
10. Destiny
11. Elements pt2
12. Fright Night

I've voted for Visions. I also love Episode.
Though it's a difficult question indeed as all the albums are great!

@Wanderer and Cliff: Visions Of Europe, is a great choice cause it's a melt of these two fantastics albums plus songs from Fourth Dimension. 8)

I do also my updated thoughs of Strato albums (japan editions are usually much better than normal versions because they have so many excellent tracks, like example When the Night Meets the Day and It's A Mystery, though Destiny's europe edition is better than japan because there is Cold Winter Nights):

AWESOME
Visions
Episode (japan)
Twilight Time

VERY GOOD
Fourth Dimension (japan)

GOOD
Destiny (europe)
Infinite (south-america or whatever is the edition that includes It's A Mystery)
Dreamspace

AVERAGE
Fright Night
Stratovarius

BAD
Elements part 2 (japan)
Elements part 1 (japan)

My vote goes still to Infinite- It was the first album I ever listened from Strato and it made me the fan of Stratovarius. :)

Seems the forum is split evenly on Know the difference, I personally love Jens' sound on the track and he plays flawlessly.

IMO, the song could be better with different sounds. Just thinking if re-making it with mixing by someone else than Karmila could make the song a lot better.

I THINK ELEMENTS PART 1 IS BETTER THAN VISIONS.

Jens's keyboard-part on that song is so fucking awesome. First fast and intensive, then cool and chily. I love it. IMO only the chorus ruins the song, where Koti has to sing an uninspired and way to high melody.

My album ranking:

1.)Visions
2.)Episode
3.)Infinite
Stratovarius
5.)Destiny
Intermission
Fourth Dimension
8.)Elements Pt.2
9.)Elements Pt.1
10.)Dreamspace
Twilight Time
12.)Fright Night

:D ;)
Yeah.

Well, not a real coma, but I've been away from the metal scene.

I found hip-hop and drum and bass

Please, forgive me, I am returning home now. Home to my first love, Stratovarius.

I should really have read the news on the main page, eh, before returning to this forum. I feel a bit silly now.

Well, another album to put on my list of things to buy - it's getting longer and longer, inversely proportional to my bank balance :?

@NeonVomit:  :!: :x  I suppose Elements Pt 1 isn't that bad. But better than Visions? Boy, you be trippin'.

Even though I place Visions as Number 1 on my list, the rest of the albums are so good that I just cannot rank them bit by bit, I dont think I will even try. :D But, TTs Dreamspace is definiely in the Top 5, you can bet your bippy on that! :D

Intermission is the album of choice for my car cd player at the moment! Bloodstone played very loudly with windows down gets lots of heads turning! :D

INFINITE baby! :D This is Stratovarius' first album recorded in DDD as opposed to the others before it in ADD. The sound comes out the best in this album and hammers the eardrums!

Very hard to choose one of those albums... I finally decided for Infinite! It has a lot of "happy" songs that make my day happier when I am low (like Huntin high & low), and also a lot of good messages about nature and mankind (Millenium, Infinity, Celestial Dream)...

I have to say I'm torn between visions and episode, but stuck on desert island with only strat album I would choose episode because of my night time eclipse and season of change. 2 of their best IMO!!
