so halftime Brazil - Ghana. Brazil lead 2-0 with a 5th minute goal by Ronaldo, and a VERY questionable goal from Adriano. Ghana otherwise dominated the first half, giving Dida a hard time and only a stroke of extreme bad luck prevented them from grabbing an equaliser. The Brazilian defence has some serious problems.
My predictions are coming true. Sigh.

Re: World Cup 2006
Wth? Do you see a pattern here? All the smaller teams are having some bad luck so far... Australia against Italy, Ecuador against England, now Ghana against Brazil. I'm surprised that Brazil are playing counter-attack.
Oh and there's no question about the second goal; Adriano was offside.

Re: World Cup 2006
Exactly as I predicted. Shame. Brazil again score an undeserved victory against a far inferior opponent who gave them a much harder time than they should've.

Re: World Cup 2006
^^Same here. Unbelievable that the same curse dogs Spain every time... Even if they started this tournament very well. That´s a pity.
But it´s nice that Zidane showed today that he still can play.

Re: World Cup 2006
Well, I said it a million times. I heard some Spanish people here in Toronto saying that now they had a young talented team and that they would go far. After that 4-0 win over Ukraine, they thought that this was their World Cup. I always said that, looking at their individual players, they had nothing really. I said many times that they were overrated, and today it showed. Honestly, I don't know what people see in Raúl! IMO, he's always been mediocre. Too bad for Spain though.

Re: World Cup 2006
Yeah, that is for sure one reason why they lost today that the they were too early proud of themselves. Young team is too eager...
But sanyway this feels bad.

Re: World Cup 2006
Well, you have two advantages: First, you are the home team, and it's estimated that there will be 70.000 Germans and 2.500 Argentines in the crowd. Without the home advantage, things could be different.Dave wrote:Nah anyway.. Germany will beat Argentinia 6:0 on friday, so i have no reason to feel unhappy
Second: It looks like our fucking coach once again will not use Tévez and Messi from the start.
And btw, the name is "Argentina".

Hmm, expect Brazil, all my favourites are already out of the game so there is only one land to support now

Re: World Cup 2006
Yeah, Brazil have the best selection of individual players in the world and that's the only thing that's helped them stumble through each match, the individual efforts of their star forewards.
Good match from France, Zidane showed that he is still one of the best. Let's hope they play as well as that against Brazil.

Re: World Cup 2006
As NeonVomit said, look at Brazil. Of course teamwork is very important, but its effect is limited by the quality of the individuals. Brazil, for example, is not having a good tournament, but it survives because of its individual players, since its teamwork is far from impressive.Equinox wrote:I think teamwork is more important than having good individual players.Stealth wrote:I always said that, looking at their individual players, they had nothing really.

Yes, I think we'll leave too. The conditions are not favorable for us, with you Germans playing at home and with us not using Messi, Tévez and Aimar.

Re: World Cup 2006
So it's
Germany v.s. Argentina (tight match, Germany will squeeze through using the home advantage)
England v.s. Portugal (England will lose on penalties as tradition dictates)
Italy v.s. Ukraine (Azzuri will overpower the less experienced Ukrainian side)
Brazil v.s. France (Brazil, faced with an intimidating opponent will finally wake up and play some real football)
then
Germany v.s. Portugal (with the side rejuvinated, Portugal will barely squeeze past Germany)
Italy v.s. Brazil (An epic match, I dare not say who will win).
How are my predictions? Thoughts? I'm not much of an expert so let's hear yours!

I'm sorry to say, but these combinations are not possible. The winner of Germany-Argentina will play against Italy, and Brasil vs. England or Portugal.NeonVomit wrote:

Re: World Cup 2006
Brasil was just standing around, they weren't really running, just kicking the ball around. They played like they wanted to show "hey, you are not good enough for us, why should we use some effort?". It was so fucking arrogant. I don't say that they are not good - the single players are STILL THE BEST IN THE WORLD, but the attitude they showed was so... ARGH!!!StragOvariuS wrote:wtf? how?stratohawk wrote:How they played was far more than arrogant. I couldn't believe it...
