Katyusha rocket

Post by Shurik » Thu Jul 13, 2006 10:25 pm

This thing exploded pretty damn near my house. Thankfully, it just hit a road going up the Carmel mountain and not the houses some 100m beneath ... It does make a quite loud "boom" ...

So, I'm ok, for all those who care ... Hopefully I will tell the same thing tomorrow ...

A Katyusha landed near your house?(!) Do you live near the Haifa area, by chance? Or possibly Nesher or Tirat Hakarmel? If so, it's likely that Hezbollah was responsible for firing it.

They reportedly have thousands of these rockets in their inventory.

From the reports I have seen in the States, IDF appears to have launched a major offensive into Lebanon, due to the kidnappings.

Good luck, and may God protect you and your family !

I live in Haifa itself, in the area between the port and the mount Carmel. The rocket hit the mountain above ...

I was meant to be playing a festival in Beirut around these days, but it got cancelled last month due to some other stuff going on. I was pretty pissed off about it.

Now, I'm glad it got cancelled!

Take care dude.

That's so surreal... We're living here in total peace and harmony, and in your region you have to be afraid to leave the air-raid-shelter. Nobody gains a damn fuck with that, not with the Israelic aggressions, not with the terroristic attacks... Sometimes I really have my doubts concerning mankind...

The last attack was pretty close, the house was shaking ...

Fuck those assholes who think that few rockets will break us. This sounds like a war talk and may sound strange to you, but I'm currently at the front-line and I say - no terrorist freak will succed in breaking the spirit of my country. Hopefully, they'll all be dead very soon.

I seriously hope cooler heads will prevail. Some seriously high-level intervention HAS to take place. This is getting rapidly out of control.

Newest report - one of the heavier rockets that were launched this afternoon destroyed a 3-floor-house in neighbourhood not far from my home. Luckily, most of the residents were in shelter and very few were hurt. The blast was extremely loud and the whole house was shaking ...

So far I'm ok, but the rockets are getting closer ...

@Shurik : I'm sorry to read that. I hope that God will protect you, your family & friends, and all your country!! :) Hope that you'll be ok and that this "war" will end soon. That's really sad to see that humans are killing each other. We still didn't learn from our past mistakes. :(

All this is happening so far from most of us.....It's easy to think of these things in terms of statistics, but so surreal to think that there are real people being threatened by it.

Few pictures from Monday's attack that did a heavy damage to one of the houses not far from where I live:

The house in front of the damaged house. Most of the damage comes from smal metal balls added to the rocket to inflict maximum damage. Those balls disperse in the 100-150m radius from the blast:

Ok, I'm exagerating, maybe a little...But, it seems that Hezbollah has more 30,000 of these rockets. :(

They had app. 12,000 rockets of all sorts - from small katyushas that can fly 20 km to big iranian rockers than can theoretically hit Tel Aviv and beyond ...

I'll try to fix the pictures ...
