Nope. Katyushas are plain cheap "aim-launch-forget-it" rockets inheriting from Russia during WWII. Usually those are not even too accurate, hence they are originally intented for launching in a bunch of 12-24 on a multi-pipe launcher system carried on a truck.

What makes them so convinient for guerillas in addition to the price is the fact that the launcher pipes can be taken apart and used individually. It takes only 2-3 men to settle up and launch a single rocket from almost anywhere using power from a common car battery.

Katyusha is more or less a metal pipe with some simple engine and ~20kg of explosives. It is indeed something that doesn't need a special launching system or even a human presence during the launch - most of those rockets are launched by some timing mechanism. The simpler model of katyusha is Quassam rocket launched from Gaza strip on south israeli towns, this is basicly a home-made katyusha with less damage and smaller range.

The rocket that hit the house on the pictures is not a katyusha, it's an Iranian rocket named Fajr-3, its range is ~45-50 km and it carries 45 kg of explosives and also a load of metal balls to increase damage. Needless to say, it's much more devastating ...

Maybe one day Israel,Lebanon,Syria and all the fucking terrorist organisations will aquire powerful weapons enough to annihilate each other for good. That is the only "peace solution" to middle east. Face it. It will never end. Human stupidity is just too big. Go on blaming each others. Go on fighting in the name of religion, in the name of who has the right to "worship" God in which temple. Go on killing innocent civilians, little children that cannot protect themselves.Go on arguing who has the right to "holy cities". God does not have holy cities. God does not have religion. God is not an Israelite. God is not Syrian. God is not Lebanese.
You are all quilty for horrible crimes against humanity. So go on, blame each other and blow yourselves to smithereens so perhaps a healthier system can be established. That is the only hope for middle east.

^Agree.

I hope the best for you Shurik and everyone there, but I too just can't stand that people are on each others throat every day. It's just stupid, the whole Palestinian - Israel thing is just STUPID, along with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And there's North Korea too. Who knows what they're planning? This sucks, badly.

Tough words, and though mankind has proven its infinite stupidity countless times, I still have hope, and I will have it until my final breath. But I admit that sometimes the exactly same thought crossed my mind.

I totally agree. Image

In these situations we can see the reality, We are the only animals that we killed ourselves without necessity to do it.

What is the ideology for this war and previous wars?? Why can't we hear us??
Why can't listen another thoughts without a weapon in the hands?? Why Can a God love all these deaths, all these violence all these pain and the war??

I don't understand it and I guess, I never could understand it. ( I prefer don't understand it)

I only know that the hope never will die, sometimes you can't see it but the hope still there...

Let it be known that there once existed a civilization that was granted all tools and means to make the whole earth and its inhabitants happy and equal.
It had enough financial resources to remove hunger from the world. It had enough money to allow free trade so that the 3rd world countries could also benefit from the economy. Above all it had brain, intelligence..capacity for thinking, compassion and empathy.
Instead it used its time to build borders, in developing weapons capable of destroying the entire planet, in useless powerstruggles over what can rationally be considered meaningless in the large scale. They were killing each other and making more weapons. Rich got richer and the poor got poorer. 1 billion people were living on 1 US dollar per day.
This so called civilisation was primitive and despite its techological achievements,
it was doomed to destroy itself. It happened in 2075. At that time the hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, heatwaves, floods, the rising of the water level had already teached them a powerful lesson from nature.

I bumped this up so we can pray&hope for a peaceful solution to the problems in the Mid-East.
Also, so we can all be thankful if we live in a peaceful country, and never take it for granted!
Shurik, you are a very brave&strong person. I don't know if I could be under those circumstances!!!!! Good luck to you in 2007&hope true peace is somehow reached soon.
