oh, wow, it happened! Nightwish has its new singer! Well I'm looking forward to new material from the band. And I will only judge when I hear a new album.
Yah, she's looking good, but in the end, that doesn't matter to me. Hm... I better be careful what I'm saying. ;-)

Apparently a finnish artist Jukka Reinivuo, of whom I've never heard, claims Nightwish plagiarized him...

Wow, they do sound similar! But I'm sure it was not plagiarism.

Btw, it frustrates me when bands include a classical segment in their songs and don't quote the original composer. It would be nice to have the reference so we can listen to the original. And I'm sorry Timo (Tolkki) but I have to include you on this. The Episode booklet does not mention that the classical segment from "Will the Sun Rise?" was taken from one of Bach's violin concertos. Many bands do this; Malmsteen does not mention that the segment from "No Mercy" (from the album "Fire & Ice") was taken from Bach's Orchestral Suites. Btw, I'd like to know who composed the intro section of "Break the Chains", found in Narnia's "Awakening"...

"Nightwish's upcoming album will be called "Dark Passion Play". It will be released by Nuclear Blast on September 28th, by Spinefarm Records / Universal on September 26th and by Roadrunner Records on September 28th.

The tracklist reads as follows:

1. The Poet And The Pendulum
2. Bye Bye Beautiful
3. Amaranth
4. Cadence Of Her Last Breath
5. Master Passion Greed
6. Eva
7. Sahara
8. Whoever Brings The Night
9. For The Heart I Once Had
10. The Islander
11. Last Of The Wilds
12. 7 Days To The Wolves
13. Meadows Of Heaven

Bye Bye Beautiful? :P Oh well, I'm expecting the greatest Nightwish-album since Oceanborn, or at least better than the Century Child and Once.

The covers look like familiar and safe ToxicAngel style.

Am planning on going to see Nightwish at the Masquerade in Atlanta on Sat Nov 17th. Ironically enough, I recently ran into an old classmate, who is newly single and is still really hot, imho. Am trying to coordinate schedules to see if she'd like to go to the concert- her name? You guessed it; Eva. 8)

I'm not sure that new Nightwish singer will be able to sing songs that Tarja did. Her voice sounds absolutely another way, IMHO, and it's not so strong. I didn't like it... Well, I expected it. It will be another Nightwish. No way to change something :(

I think that Anette definitely sounds different than Tarja, but I do believe that this is part of Halopainen's plan, and I personally trust his instincts as a songwriter and band leader. He has stated publically that he did not want a "clone" of Tarja, and I do think that she is unique in that respect, and a clone of her would be much more of an insult to NW fans.

Replacing a vocalist, particularly one of Tarja's caliber is always difficult, and I'm certain that some fans will be disappointed. It is an unfortunate situation, but I think that the new lineup is strong, and from what I have heard in the audio samples, Anette is certainly a strong vocalist in her own right.

I don't think that NW would have hired her if they didn't see a significant amount of talent and potential in her. I also think that we'll probably see more vocals from the bassist Hietala, and possibly a more straightforward metal approach, and perhaps a bit less bombast and orchestrations. I think that NW needs to change and move forward. Only bands like AC/DC, imo, can continue to release the same type of album, year after year, and keep their audience. Just my $0.02 though.

Miditek, I'm agree with you in one thing - it will be absolutely another band... It's very different. And yes, somebody will like it, and somebody won't... I miss Tarja, to tell you the truth... :( I heard her voice alive just one time but I'll never forget it.

@Morgana- I certainly will miss Tarja as well, but I am certain that she'll have an interesting career ahead of her, for sure, as a solo artist. I had a dream one night that she appeared as a guest with TSO- Trans-Siberian Orchestra for a few Christmas shows, and it was just great.

I think that she is just about the best female rock/metal vocalist that I've ever heard. I also think that NW will have continued success as well. As previously stated, I do like the new NW stuff.

Essentially, I think that both parties will do rather well, although possibly not quite as good than if they were still together. It was sort of like a divorce, and unfortunately, everyone got hurt.

Let's see how things will happen, but as it was said above, i think we can give a chance to Anette. Her voice is different yes, but still sounds nice and more rock than Tarja. :)

I say GREAT :
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Nuclear Blast Records"

Of course fans and honest pp will still buy the album, but still, the person who put that on the net shows no respect to the band.
