Album with the best sound?

Post by stratohawk » Fri Oct 19, 2007 4:19 pm

Hey folks! I wonder what you think which Stratovarius album has the best sound? And I really only mean the sound, from no other viewpoint, leave out songwriting qualities, album artwork, lyrics, etc. Just simply reflect what sound rocked most in your opinion.

IMO it's the last album, "Stratovarius", followed by "Visions" and "Episode".

Elements pt1.

Easy. The most atmospheric by far.

Episode or Visions... Episode.
Stratovarius-album wasn't bad either.

Episode, definetily. Drums and bass :headbang: , especially when listening with headphones.

Btw I consider (production of) Infinite worst, somehow it's very... hmm... plastic.

Yeah, that's why it can't be my fav Stratoalbum and why I like much more some other albums (including Episode), but when I consider JUST the sound...

Yeah, that's what I was asking for. 8) Don't think about how good the music is, only the sound production.
I wonder if Visions is leading this poll again because it's the favourite album of most Stratovarius fans, or really because of the good sound.
But, go ahead folks!

Infinite. Maybe because I was very happy at the time of my life when I acquired the album, and I bought the poster around the same time as well. I know many slag it off because it's a "happy" album. The sound of the Infinite album was massive.

If its just the sound, the symphonics, I have to say Infinite, also. The song Infinity is the grandest Strato Songs in terms of its sweeping symphonic sound. Its one of my fav StratoSongs because of this element.
The drums pay into the song, Phoenix, giving it the bombastic sound that sets it apart.
Mother Gaia has a very soothing, spiritual sound that is very nice, IMO.

Just considering the sound.... IMO Infinite, I voted for it :) . Visions has also a very good sounding.

Elements Pt 1, if not for Elements then definitely Fantasia, awesome production and ambience.

Hey folks...what's wrong with "Destiny"? :)
As an album it has a nice atmosphere. I liked the artwork. Sound was quite good too. We'll wait and see if it gets any votes.

I like the sound of "Destiny" very much, voted for it. But no Strato album has bad sounds.

I voted for visions. I think that 4th dimension got the worst sounds. They are just so...I dunno. Dry.
I'm hunting high and low

If I had to handle it from the production's view, I would say Elements pt.1. Best sound ever achieved.

Andd if we're talking of albums with the worst productions, those would certainly be Infinite, Elements 1 & 2. They mainly include just some horrible plastic takatakatakatilutilutiluzzzzzz -moments, and especially keboards sound like shit :puke: The song material's mainly horrifying too, especially on Elements...
Hehe, IMO you are exaggerating a little bit. ;-) I mean I also don't like the sterile sound of Elements Pt.1 very much, and this kind of sound already developed on Infinite album (Pt.2 was better again), but "the song material's mainly horrifying"?? Okay.... All a question of taste, but when I think of songs like Hunting, Mother Gaia, Infinity, Million Lightyears, Soul of a Vagabond, ..., I rather think these are absolutely great songs.
But well, this topic's only about the sound. 8)

Visions - Not the best, but the sound is just so great, especially harpsichord/guitar duetos.

2nd would be Twilight Time.

My vote goes to Elements Pt1 although Stratovarius was quite close.
