The samples sound good, but in my opinion they don't sound like Stratovarius

I bet the first samples did by Kotipelto on the 1st Demo(which were completed, but later scrapped)DID sound like Strato! ;)

Demos are not "scrapped", they are never used for album production.
Ours never even had proper lyrics. Last night on earth in Wacken didnt have lyrics, TK was singing just what we called "bullshit English", just words.
In the initial recording session, just drums were recorded, but they were not usable.

Reliable sources have said a completed Demo was released to Sanctuary with the Stratovarius line-up. Oh, I hope to God that is not true because that would look soooooo bad if all the guys work was done all in vain.
In the rap music field, doing something like that would be somewhat risky! :?

I have heard(seen posted on messageboards&forums) fans who were at Wacken say "Last Night on Earth" by Kotipelto was one of the nicest Stratovarius songs they had heard in years! Sounds like it did have great lyrics! :)

I guess "scrapped" is the wrong word I meant.
"Ignored" I think would describe it better.

Never mind. 5 years from now none of this concern is going to matter or be remembered anyway. :D

Part of the lyrics are in "Last Night On Earth lyrics" thread - here: http://www.stratovarius.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8526

Is there a chance to hear those demos with "unproper" lyrics some day? As a bonus on any album, on limited edition or something?

Might be actually. I just remember that I did write one line of lyrics for LNOE and it is at the end of the chorus and it is: "what would you do, if it's your last night on earth". The whole demo was done in like 2 days and sounds pretty awful.

Of course he did a great job. It is our job as well as a professional musicians not to let anything that is going on in the band show outside. That would be really unprofessional.

I like a lot the album logo. It is an Aathenian shield? Looks similar.

Ok, but it is the same kind of shield as greek shields (not trojan).

I wonder if there are any U.S. tour dates scheduled to support the new release?

Actually I was contacted by Progpower yesterday because some band cancelled. I have to see..I don't think it's the right time to tour yet.
I don't have the band together and the people need time. I am planning
to record another album fairly soon when I find the line up and then do a
complete world tour next year. Will be playing songs from Hymn to Life as well and of course bunch of Strato songs.

I like very much the samples, specially "Revolution Renassaince". I also like a lot the logo. It's Great!. I can't compare this to Visions album: First because i did not hear the entire New Era album, just four SAMPLES of it, and second because if I'd like to hear and album exactly like Visions then I'll put Visions CD on my cd player. Visions is a great album but this is different, I think that when Mr. Tolkki said that New Era is a visions type album perhaps he wanted to say that it was composed under that mood, with that hunger of play and feel power metal, like in that time. I don't know, it's just my opinion. I am a fan of strato since i was 12 years old, now i'm 23 and i really feel sad about the strato break-up but it's time to continue, so Tolkki and Revolution Renaissance will have my support, totally.

I thank you...I have in mind to make something new but maintain the power metal feel. People "judge" : "it's not Visions" by hearing 4 clips totalling few minutes. I dont even care what it is cause I dont label it. Perhaps it is the spirit of freedom I feel now. I can already picture myself on stage in Sao Paulo with my new band playing "Key to the Universe" to 6000 people.

It would be awesome to hear both Strato-songs, new songs and some from Hymn to Life together live. I´d guess hearing HtL stuff would also be touching moments in the audience. :)

Hey man, as long as you're happy. Hopefully this time you'll know when the going gets tough, pull the plug real quick instead of going through another domino effect of bad times.

I have to tell you, Hymn to Life was a grower for me. Took a while to sink in, but I love it (not all, but most of it). That last speech by Chaplin is bliss, just love the touch.

Anyway, be happy, have fun...there is some good out there. This time, hopefully you'll be able to call your bandmates 'friends'.

With all that said, rock on! Can't wait to hear RR. Kiske has been my favorite singer by far for the past 17 years (yea, I'm starting to get old  ). That frontman from Circus Maximus is close second.

Have fun Timo..I'll always support you and your music. Can't wait to see you in Montreal!

JF

P.S. Would it surprise you if I said that "We Are the Future" is my favorite song from you ? :)

P.S. #2 Argh, the forum's DB is out of wack these days. Good thing I pasted my text in a file before
