OPINION--defined,= something a person thinks, their version of the matter at hand or How someone sees things. Thats why people are told not to take things seriously which are posted on forums.

Don't worry. We'll get George Bush out in November. ;)

We get new music from everyone in a fully functioning band form and a project from early stratovarius members. Call everything x y and z it's a wonderful thing for me and not something to go insane over. This whole name calling thing is ridiculous, each member is happy with their own projects, Get a random name generator and release everything through that.
Yes, it is definetely logical... But as for me I feel some disgusting feeling of being used as a consumer. Sometimes in this whole story it was rather strong. Maybe it`s the difference in mentality. You know, after the USSR fall in 1991 the worst thing that came to our land from West (I supposed I`m already pissing off everyone with this "West - East" things =) ) is the consumers society. It`s when the goods producing is the main thing and the main interest for the audience is receiving these goods. If it was twenty years ago, I would have never listened such an album Tolkki is planning to release - just because I do not have enough respect of him in person. Now, when I can listen to some common sense and logic, I will listen to that album because Tolkki is a good musician and songwriter (although, remembering the tempo of metal music producing, I don believe it is possible to make a full circle album in a half a year, leave alone convincing Lassila and Antti to take part in this all), but I cannot get rid of the feeling that Tolkki is absolutely insincere in his message.

I don't believe at all in TT's gossip.
I'm sure Strato-guys will demonstrate that you are wrong by facts, and first of all with a great album and worldwide tour in 2009. :)

You're right, that is addictive, especially when you're bored and suppose to be working. I decided the full name was too long so just plugged in "Strato":

Strato Grave
Strato Queen And The Lone Wednesday
Strato Alien
Strato Of The Tense
Strato Geezer

and my personal favorite...

Manic Strato Of The Moaning People

Somehow is seems appropriate, for the moment anyway.

I found quite interesting to upload some Timo's current pics just to see how he is currently looking. These were taken last week in Pori, and I have taken them from his forum, so I suppose many of you who daily visit his forum have already see them (and commented too)
The T-shirt is cool and suits him very well.
I hope you like them!

So we still can count on "New Strato name" 's epic vocals? :)

Yeah, that Eagleheart video was pretty interesting. But I think it was the last song in the gig and at that spot it's not too easy any more to sing very high notes.

i love his live voice, it's just not consistantly accurate technical wise. i also think he gives too much of the song to the crowd sometimes. i think it gives gime some personality and makes each time a new expirence. its fun listaning to his accent

we shall see. sometimes i don't think metal singers are takeing the effort to sing the material as well as they should. but it's not easy stuff to sing esepaly on teh road. in opera and musicals the guys are more consistant but they dont have to travil 24 7 and sing 100 + minutes a night of this stuff.

That is true icecab.

AGAG, We'll see what happen, I don't think his voice is falling. He's 39, cmon...maybe in 10 years his voice starts falling, but now? He has the perfect age and now, he knows technically how to use the voice in gigs and how to make it better.

And the problem comes while listening to Kotipelto's band songs...let's see...that songs are "easy".
I mean, it's not the same as Strato songs. Kotipelto's songs are rock and soft and with 40% of his range can sing ok. When he sings Hunting, then you can see his voice and I think it is ok and I don't see problems.

But if you think about Wacken...well...all the band was HORRIBLE. And if you see Jens, Jörg, Lauri, Tolkki...every member did a bad job up there, not just Kotipelto.

sure, he's experienced and his voice naturally is now totally mature. he trained a lot all of those years to arrive to the perfection.

They could always rename it to Stratovarius of Fire and be done with it.

Well, sometimes he needs to rest. It has to be very tiring singing for an hour or more. He needs to take breath too... :)
BTW you said his accent is funny. I am very interested in languages and different accents, but I am not a native speaker and sometimes is hard for me to appreciate the differences. Can you explain me how does his accent sound like since you are a native speaker?

I love language and accents. The different sounds that can come from our mouths are amazing and I love that each and every one of has our own voice and can make sounds that no other human can make. I’m not so good at explaining accents but it’s all in the way someone forms their mouth and enunciates the words. There are so many ways that words can be pronounced and kotipelto puts his own style into his singing rather than trying to emulate someone else. i also like that he will sing songs in differnt ways, every performance of paradise has a different ending. I need to look for a book that teaches how to emulate different accents.

I’m so fond of broken English and all the specific accents and dialects that it sort of has become a disappointment for me if let’s say a singer from Scotland sings with a standard American accent instead of a Scottish one.

Agreed. As a person trying to learn to speak a number of different languages, I love the accents, especially those from European countries. It is most entertaining when vocalist add their accents to the emotion and flavor of the lyrics. Timo K.'s is most appealing because he's so close with his diction but just a little off.

I must confess, though I get irritated by people who are too lazy to type English, if they know better. Many people can't be bothered to type their words correctly, and I guess this is anal on my part, but it is horribly annoying because I spend hours copy editing every day. Not from those learning English, but people who have English as their first language.

What about accents from different parts of a country? For example, the USA has many "accents" within, such as Southern, Northern, and even out West has an "accent" different from others. Also, the famous "Boston" accent, and the Louisana Cajun accent.

Yes I have a whole thing about use accents and how in a communications class my teacher showed a video of some places in the USA that still had their sounds of the 1700's. Accents give character and can be used for some great emotional reactions. So many things go into how a vocalist’s sounds that it’s incredible to hear the different ways sounds and words can be put together. Kotipelto sings a whole lot of different style with stratovarius and my favorite songs are where he is given the vocal runs of chorus melody and when the end of a song gets transposed up with the key changes. He definitely is at his best when he gets to just focus on holding and doing runs with vowels.
