He is (I think, I'm not checking if he really is as I type).
Military sevices...

(it is said they did it because he drank too much as well)
When I met the guys from Sonata Arctica in Toulouse in 2005, I've saw that Jani didn't drink too much as Henrik and Tony. Those last two guys were the human vodka bottles...lol I've done an interview with them and Jani is really a nice guy.

That had to do military services...

Yeah, I know. But, I've only replied to the false rumour.

Ok, it's nice to clear some alcohol-related rumors

I didn't know to what extent it was true, that's just something I heard, and that I may not have been the only one to hear.

i've always known this was the reason of Jani's firing... drinking in Finland is like a competition huh?

and surely Kakko is the winner...

I agree with MetalAngel. Jani is a really nice and down-to-earth guy. I have never seen him drunk. I remember meeting Tony the night before Sonata played in Tuska. He was really drunk. And of course, his vocal performance the next day was quite bad.
I also remember meeting their former keyboard player. Really drunk, but still so nice and funny

This is wrong

I knew Kakko drinks a lot, same for the keys, I just wondered for the guitar...We never know, it might have been an additional reason or the firing (don't blame me!

Have a look at his myspace. He himself claims that drinking alcohol is his worst habit.

Talking cirrhosis, the musicias that frightens me the most for that is Alexi Lahio (CoB). I recently read an interview and the Sonata Arctica boys look (unfortunately) ridiculous next to him...
