I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
Hi everybody!
My name is David, I'm new on this forum. I am 17 years old, from Argentina, and i would like to learn to speak and read Suomen Kieli.
I think there's a lot of people here who speaks that tongue, since this forum is from Finland, so I'm waiting for someone to let me know something
Cya!

You have a private teacher right here, if you rent me a flat in Bariloche and pay me a salary suitable for my education.

Puedo enseñaros el francés
Anyway, me gustaría también aprender Suomi, pero para el momento inglés, castellano y alemán, con un poco de noruego bastan!
Seriously, Finnish seems to be a very interesting language to learn.

Nah, kids learn to write and read faster than in English-speaking countries. Finnish is a very simple language to write and read. Easier than Spanish. No tricks, no special rules.Lurdi wrote:And very complicated too...I think children will learn how to read, write and speak at the age of...10???eagledreamr wrote:Puedo enseñaros el francés

The grammar might be a bit tricky for you, though. And the vowels: a, e, i, o, u, y, ä, ö. I know some Spaniards who have studied Finnish, it's quite easy for them to get the pronunciation right.

Re: I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
Here's a tip about learning finnish: Don't.
Learn a language that's not that complicated and/or that's not used by mere 5 million people in the world.

Re: I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
If I want to learn a language, it's for how does it sounds, not for how hard it seems nor how many people use it.Mormegil wrote:Here's a tip about learning finnish: Don't.

Also I already speak spanish, english and italian, so I would like to learn another one just for fun.
The sound of the vowels is the same than spanish ones, excepting y, ä and ö, but I already learned its pronunciation, so all that lasts is grammar and vocabulary. Kiitos

Fair enough if you like it. It just seems like awful waste of time for someone as lazy as me.Luinedhel wrote:If I want to learn a language, it's for how does it sounds, not for how hard it seems nor how many people use it.Mormegil wrote:Here's a tip about learning finnish: Don't.

Re: I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
Eso es cualquier cosa.
Please try to reply in english, so everybody can understand. The finnish section is meant to native speakers of finnish, I can´t uderstand it yet!
Again, if anyone can give me just an orientation, i'd be thanked for the help.
Kuulemiin!

Kaunista päivää kaikille!
I learn the Finnish language recently.
Many people said it that heavy. Though not.

(Most of the vowels are indeed the same as in Spanish, but when you actually try to speak Finnish it might not be that easy with two [or three, in fact, the Spanish Y is not a vowel; in Swedish there is one more: Å] extra vowels)
Re: I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
That's what makes a language even more interesting, Carcass. Nowadays learning English is not something exceptional, not even for those countries such as Germany, Sweden, Finland...The vast majority of you speak English. Here in Spain the thing is quite different. You have to take into account that we have everything translated into Spanish. People are not used to listen to the English language unless you really want to and as a consequence you have to do everything on your own.Mormegil wrote:Here's a tip about learning finnish: Don't.

I believe all languages are important in the whole world, no matter how many speakers it has. Learning languages is always beautiful. You realise how different speakers understand the same things in a different way, different concepts.
By the way, when and how do you start learning English in Finland or any other country? How's the process? I am really interested in this.
Re: I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
Well, grammar and vocabulary is always the hardest part. That is actually the crux of the matter.Luinedhel wrote:If I want to learn a language, it's for how does it sounds, not for how hard it seems nor how many people use it.Mormegil wrote:Here's a tip about learning finnish: Don't.

And practice is always really important, but how can somebody practice a very different language such as Finnish, Swedish...You have two options: 1 Go to that very country to learn it or practice it 2 Get a native boyfriend/girlfriend
Re: I want to learn Finnish/Suomi, who could teach me?
I can't understand this topic. If you wanna learn a language, what's the point of being here saying "I wanna learn suomi". If you wanna learn suomi, then go to learn it in some academy or something.
I think I'm gonna make a topic called: "I wanna learn to play the keyboard like Jens Johansson".

Then how do you explain Mandarin? 2 billion people talk that language and it seems very complicated!Mormegil wrote:Here's a tip about learning finnish: Don't.

There is a point, you can see I live in Argentina, And as you can imagine, the chair where I'm sitting in is over 20.000 km from Finland, so it's a little journey. Also, there aren't much finnish people here.I can't understand this topic. If you wanna learn a language, what's the point of being here saying "I wanna learn suomi". If you wanna learn suomi, then go to learn it in some academy or something.
Maybe in Buenos Aires, but not too much indeed (Unless you want me to learn it from Tarja Turunen Herself), but here in my hometown there simply aren't finnish people, and an academy of finnish is simply something unthinkable. So i decided to make a mate in internet. It's not to weird, I think.
Thank you very much. I think it will help me a lot, but it would be better if I could talk to any finnish too, so I could check if I am progressing. You can give me your E-Mail adress, and if you want, I can ask you some things, and so...Learn to internet!

Si, pero el traductor esta desde hace poco! Lo se porque antes ya me habia fijado y no estaba jaja
Suomi seems to be difficult, but besides Spanish, I speak Armenian, and you have to see THAT, it's symbols, first you have to learn how to draw them ...
It's a beautiful language, I've learnt to speak and write in Armenian at school, so I can do it pretty well. I was born here in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but my roots are in Armenia.
