In the history of power metal? Hard!

I'd say Keeper of the Seven Keys partII (or maybe I) by Helloween.

The best in Power Metal?
I would say Keeper I. Easy choice.

Between I and II it's not that easy. Surely not III, but maybe II (Keeper of the Seven Keys is one of the best tunes ever!)

For me it is easy. Keeper I is by far better than part II. In part II Weikath and Kiske started to take over the band and you could clearly hear that the direction they chose was very different from what Kai had in mind. If you take a look at the early Gamma Ray Albums you can see that. Actually, I think songs like "Heading for Tomorrow", "Heaven Can Wait", "Lust for Life", "Space Eater" or "The Silence" woul've sounded great with Kiske even though I prefer Ralf. But I'm digress. Keeper II is still a good album but I like part I more. And Part III is in my opinion a good album. In general I am more a fan of the Deris Era Helloween.

I wouldn't blame Weikath on that. After all, on Keeper II he wrote THE power metal song, Eagle Fly Free. Let's just agree they both rock. :)

My absolute favourite of all time would probably be Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth.

In my opinion:

1) Visions
2) Land of the Free
3) Keepers 2
4) Avantasia 1

Almost a tie between all those, perfect albums (10/10) for me :evil:

WHA? Keeper Part III was WAY better than I and II,
I and II were more "Revolutionary", because they took Dio Styled Vocals and applied them to Heavy Metal instead of Hair Metal, not necessarily Original, but certainly relevant. But Part III has much more expressive songs.

The first time I hear this opinion. I sort of agree.

IMO Keeper PartIII is not revolutionary, it's just a great album. Keepers I and II were revolutionary, they created a whole genre. Both have amazing songs, powerful lyrics and music. And they have not gone old at all, they're still great live nowaday.
Then, whether I is better than II is another question...I personally can't tell, IMO it's not that easy...

Nobody said that Part III is revolutionary.

Number one is definitely Visions by Stratovarius but A Kind of Magic from Queen is also a close call. Both are perfect albums in their genre.

Keeper of the Seven Keys part I is the album that made the hair on my balls start to grow so I have to go with that. Part II is the second best.

WOW big question.

Ok.

My top 5 in no particular order

Stratovarius - Elements Part 1
Stratovarius - Episode
Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the Other Side
Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory
Sonata Arctica - Ecliptica

These are the power metal albums which have affected me the most, both emotionally and as a musician.

Best album in general;
Ayreon - 01011001

Best powermetal album;
Haven't got enough of them to say, but I'd say Powerplant.
