Your favourite Jens Johansson keyboard solo or melody
Re: Your favourite Jens Johansson keyboard solo or melody
Anthem of the World is very good one, the whole album Destiny contains great solos of Jens. :music: :headbang:
Re: Your favourite Jens Johansson keyboard solo or melody
I like a lot of his solo's on infinite, then again most of the stuff he does with strato is pretty epic,I also like his parts on Malmsteens "I'll see the light tonight"

^ Just thinking the same thing yesterday while listening to Odyssey...
also to the other that said the Elements solo makes them cry....I have shed a tear listening to the solo in I'm still alive. It's filled with so much emotion and feeling; it makes me want to raise my hand and hail life! It's musically superb!

Re: Your favourite Jens Johansson keyboard solo or melody
I still remember that! There was actually a better solo on another track. They used the wrong one when they mixed it ..Mormegil wrote:I prefer his solo in Riot In The Dungeons.

I did all the solos on Odyssey in one go. We were in Texas and i had some clinic in New Jersey the next day. I was convinced the plane was going to crash, so I pushed the engineer to get at least the solos recorded the evening before i left...... just in case.
The E1E2 solos i also did in one go -- which was the last day possible. There is some sort of pattern here I think. That time I was properly hung over -- always a must for good solos. I was staying in the Helka hotel in Helsinki, and me and TT had gotten completely plastered the night before (this was when he still drank). He drank some 15 redbull-vodkas and was supposed to sleep on Nino L.'s floor overnight, but had real trouble sleeping because he was hallucinating earthquakes all night. I suppose 15 redbulls worth of caffeine can have that effect. I was luckier, stuck with just vodka, slept, woke up with horrible hangover, and recorded the solos. The rest of the day and night i spent organizing, rendering and exporting keyboard files for mix. E1E2 had something like 25 songs altogether and each song had probably 10 keyboard tracks. I never did go back to sleep, I had to check out from the hotel the day after that because they didn't have any more free rooms...

really funny to hear that story, for me E2 is so much important record in my life...I love that solo inStill Alive, and that in season of faith's perfection, did you ever played live some songs of that record?
Re: Your favourite Jens Johansson keyboard solo or melody
Did Malmsteen have a particular template when you two would write music?
Did it differ much from the way Tolkki or reaching even further back the way Jonas Hansson would write?

Agree and Plus
I agree with our friend, the solo from I'm Still Alive is great, but I remembered another from E1, not just the solo but the music is great, Learning to Fly.
And adding some more, I really like the music Winter Battle from Last Viking...^^

Hey Jens, if it's not too much of an inconvenience, could you please tell us something about your days in Dio? I don't think I've ever read an interview where you would've discussed that subject. I would be really interested to know what your thoughts were on album Lock Up The Wolves and Ronnie himself.

Re: Your favourite Jens Johansson keyboard solo or melody
There are not so many keyboard solo "orgies" really on PolarisRazielSR wrote:We are gonna add some new favourites solos from Polaris to our collection, I'm sure...

Matias plays a really nice and long solo on "Somehow Precious". I love that, I know myself how nice it is to have enough time to stretch out.
On Jonas' "art metal" I played a couple of longer ones which I really liked. Not hung over at all, just in a good mood and lots of coffee. That was the same week when I made this video:
