For me it is like:
"Oh, we have to do a secound album this year? But I can't think of any new stuff! What? We still got those songs that were left over from Part I? But didn't we leave em out because we thought they were bad? Nah, who cares, just get the album out fast!"

I guess we won't know the real reason behind the two part epic until we hear it from the source cause otherwise we are both making assumptions
but how do you explain how part 2 began with the ocean sound where part 1 left off? Surely there must have been some planning?

This is just how I feel about them. I know the whole trilogy was prpoably planed out and IIRC the 2 albums were recorded together, but still. When I listen to the album it seems that they were so tierd after making part I and so they didn't put too much effort in it.
Re: Sample "Higher We go" is offline
I think as TT is a big fan of Helloween, he thought was a great idea to do a "Part I & II" style of album, and as the people seems to love those kind of releases, he may thought it could have become the new highlight in Stratovarius career.
But anyways, it didn't reach the success of the Keepers at all.
Just guessing.

Yeah. It wasn't a highligt. Part I was great. Part II not so much.Mehida wrote:I think as TT is a big fan of Helloween, he thought was a great idea to do a "Part I & II" style of album, and as the people seems to love those kind of releases, he may thought it could have become the new highlight in Stratovarius career.

I say Elements pt 2 is the weakest Stratovarius album, but it doesn'n mean it isn't a masterpieceBurning Reflection wrote: I know you guys are free to feel how you'd like to, but I love Elements part 2. The lyrics to every song are brilliant and I can't see how you guys think the album is half-assed.

Nothing to say.

Re: Sample "Higher We go" is offline
I guess some people think making Kotipelto's voice sound like a robot at the intro of a couple of songs, adding a song about a giant and its awakening, and making every other track feel like a rejected Elements Pt. I song automatically makes it a masterpiece.
Hell, there's a reason why people say Stratovarius should have ended with Pt. I and not Pt. II.
I personally wouldn't call Pt. II a masterpiece. Actually, I'd say it's the opposite. It's horrible and I definitely think it's their worst album. If Stratovarius actually stayed broken up, I would be ashamed to have Elements Pt. II and S/T as the last Stratovarius album.

Why do you all hate S/T? It wasn't the usual Stratovarius and it was a bit more progressive, but that doesn't make it bad!

There is nothing embarrassing about the album! It was a good album! Maybe not typical Stratovarius, but a good album.Star_Ocean wrote:I don't hate it. When someone walks in on me listening to Maniac Dance, and think and wonder why I'm listening to an emo band, I'd say that's pretty embarrassing.Ragehead91 wrote:There is nothing embarrassing about the album! Okay, with the background we know the lyrics of the song may be a bit weird, but still, it is a catchy song with a great guitar solo. Nothing to be embarrassed about.Star_Ocean wrote:When someone walks in on me listening to Maniac Dance, and think and wonder why I'm listening to an emo band, I'd say that's pretty embarrassing.Ragehead91 wrote:There is nothing embarrassing about the album! WE WANT MORE SAMPLES!
Re: Sample "Higher We go" is offline
To your Elements discussion. If i remember right TT said something that he wrote all songs for both album at the same time and the band has planed to release a 2cd album but their former label nuclear blast doesnt want a 2cd album instead 2 single releases.
p.s. when i read such posts from mehida blind poking in the fog.

That still doesn't change anything for me. To me Part II still only sounds like they used leftovers from Part I.
Re: Sample "Higher We go" is offline
Hmm comparing the sample to elements ok but discussing what TT might have thought 6 years ago i think it goes a bit off topic and who the fuck cares ? elements is done and i like it and people hey you cant change the past.take it as it is you have no choice

We're not talking about changing the past. We're talking about the Elements Albums and that a lot of ppl like Part I more than Part II.

Re: Sample "Higher We go" is offline
Sounds surprisingly similar to older stratovarius
I am looking forward to hearing Lauri's stuff! Higher we go is just a typical Kotipelto powermetal song. Nice melody but sounds too much like his solo material.
Ragehead seems to have an obsession in comparing this album with AOA. Hello, unless you have noticed they are two different bands with different composers, players and musical directions
But I actually enjoy this set. If Strato is more into the superhyperfast powermetal stuff and we get symphonic and slower material from RR the setup is nice! I think these albums make a great combo because they are different from eachother! They kind of fulfill eachother you know!

I have no idea why some started rating Strato albums, but I'll rate them anyways, because it sounds fun.

Middle of May! The postman rings twice. You open your door and there it is! POLARIS! You tear up the parcel and in a fog you walk to your recordplayer. You are feverish with expectation and anticipation. You tremble.
And there, there, at last, you can hear the first keyboardtones from "Deep Unknown" flood through your room. The loudspeaker sings and you are happy , blissful. And you can feel it again and again and again Lucky you...

Timo Tolkki, even if I don't really like him, was the main composer of the band. He composed like 90% of the songs. No he left the band to start a new band. I think in this case it is just natural that ppl compare Tolkkis new Band to Stratovarius.Keyssion wrote: Ragehead seems to have an obsession in comparing this album with AOA.
