I'm not a fan of black metal personally however I have many friends who like it, but even they agree that what Varg did was horrible.

I agree with what bathory said that he tries to justify his actions by claiming some kind of ideological intellectualism and thus tries to make his deeds seem like they are okay.

I can never understand or condone anything that he does.

Jon Nodveidt from Dissection was involved in the murder of an Algerian man in Sweden. Racially motivated. He was incarcerated then he commited suicide. The Absurd guys from Germany murdered a fellow student in their school. Incarcerated too. There were also cases of arson in the US. Even somewhere in, like, South America, a black metal guy killed a priest or something relatively recently. Plenty of suicides and violent crimes too.

I was mainly thinking about the Norwegian scene. You can find murders, suicides and crimes within any music scene if you do some digging.

Actually I don't think Vikernes has any disorder whatsoever. He has very extreme and fukked up views but I don't think he has any mental issues.

To be honest I think that would have happened sooner or later. There was such a competition about who was the toughest guy on the scene at the time that Euronymous would probably have done something similar sooner or later. Of course his self-defense claim is bullshit.

That's what's the most annoying. There is so much violence in US hip-hop scenes yet over there it seems ok. Both by the authorities and the audiences. The more street cred the better. These fukks are all criminals and they lead lives of such luxury it is unbelievable.

I heard it wasn't really a surprise, and that some members of black metal bands at the time heard Varg wanted to kill Euronymous, and that maybe Euronymous wanted to kill Varg.

The thing is that it is difficult to make the difference between someone saying "I will kill him" but who is not going to do it, who just hates the person, and someone saying " I will kill him" and who will really do it. Even when you know the person, you can't really ever know if he'll cross this line and commit murder, or just keep hating the guy...

Actually he made a 2nd separate 30 minutes documentary about Black Metal because in the main movie he mainly focused on Varg and Church arsons.

I think after many tries to appeal he finaly was finally pardoned last year.
