Yeah. Take a quick guess which creditors will get paid first -- "proper" creditors with specific invoices (like CD pressing plants etc), or bands being owed back royalties...Mormegil wrote:hurr durr piracy won't hurt the bands only the big fat capitalist pigdogs running the big bad capitalist corporations. derp.

Re: SPV bit the dust
Stratovarius made a bunch of money through the years. (you're telling me all those singles and gold records and not much money??) So I can't help it this time. Unless you live in a apartment that costs $35,000 a month or own a house with that much in bills and own 5 sports cars, I really can't understand how you don't have money for basic needs and a lot more to spend on whatever the hell else you please. I know Jens brings it up from time to time, and I can't help it this time. It's bursting out of my chest. And yes, I know how you are in debt, but before, money cash hoes, right?

Re: SPV bit the dust
Wasn't Motörhead, Dio and Whitesnake on their lable? I thought that at least they would bring some money.
Re: SPV bit the dust
Motorhead have that massive yearly tour that they do which has to be a bit of a drain on funds. Dio is focusing on H&H rather than his solo stuff and when was the last time we saw anything major from the Whitesnake camp?Ragehead91 wrote:Wasn't Motörhead, Dio and Whitesnake on their lable? It's a damn shame but there are plenty of European Metal labels around now that they can jump to.

Anyway, I sometimes make this general point; usually in this business the artists are the ones that are paid last.
Stratovarius was never signed to SPV so this bankruptcy should not affect us directly. But for sure it will have an impact on the whole European metal scene.

Re: SPV bit the dust
Really? I get Metal Hammer and Terrorizer and haven't seen an advert in either for the album or the tour. Whitesnake live these days would be....interesting.Ragehead91 wrote: Whitesnake have released a new Album "Good to be bad" last year and are touring the world right now.
Re: SPV bit the dust
SPV handles the distribution of our albums, in fact they do the distribution for most of LMP's artists.
I hope this won't affect us too badly

Re: SPV bit the dust
I'm worried about these great bands that SPV has on their label. Will their going out of business hurt these bands?

No. They never said that SPV is dead. They will continue. The lable is still alive. There was never any talk of closing SPV.hiro23 wrote:I'm worried about these great bands that SPV has on their label. Will their going out of business hurt these bands?

oh thank god, I'd hate to think that some of the best names in metal would lose their jobs.

Re: SPV bit the dust
I really hope that they can continue and that all the bands won't jump shit to Blast, Sanctuary, G.U.N. or any other lables because the last thing SPV needs at the moment would be the loss of all their big names.
Re: SPV bit the dust
As far as bands go I pay attention to, Whitesnake is quite a bit down the list. I'm always up for a bit of classic heavy metal though.Ragehead91 wrote:What? Again, they want to continue. They said that they'll carry on and they don't want to destroy their working relationships they've build up since the 80s.

Re: SPV bit the dust
From WikipediaWolfgang Spahr of Billboard.biz reports: SPV Schallplatten Produktion und Vertrieb GmbH in Hanover has declared itself insolvent.
The managing partner, Manfred Schütz, decided to submit an application to commence insolvency proceedings on May 25 — roughly equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In response to this, on May 27, the District Court of Hanover appointed the attorney Manuel Sack as the provisional insolvency administrator. "Normal business will continue even after the application for insolvency," said Schütz.
According to Schütz, together with attorney Manuel Sack, the management of SPV GmbH will not only carry on business operations, but also continue working in the areas of production and distribution in the usual way.
