Re: Helloween Guitarrists
You are putting words in my and hiro's mouths. We NEVER said that we were more interested in the fashion than the music. Weikath could play his live shows naked for all I care. We just said that Weikath used to dress very weird back then. And come on! He really looked weird back thenicecab21 wrote:i myself am interested in the music and not the fashion.Yes I agree, Weikath looks much better in the jeans and T-shirt look

Icecab:I'm the same way, I do prefer the music, I'm just saying I think he looked a little scary in those clown pants.

And it is also a good thing that Markus does not wear these shorts anymore...

Couple more shots of Andi and his cool jacket

This one is actually my current desktop background on my computer at work
And one more, just because it's a cool picture

But I'm more happy that Weiki doesn't wear those silly outfits anymore.
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Although if I was going to get people talking I would probably resort to silly looking clothing as well, so I can't be too judgemental

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Actually, when I look at those pictures and see Ingo it makes me kind of sad.
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Ragehead:I know, he died way too young, I've had friends who've struggled with depression and unfortunatly there is not much you can do, mostly you just have to hope that they keep on finding reasons to go on.
I was glad that both Helloween and Gamma ray dedicated albums to him, time of the oath and Land of the free. (I know your not too keen on gamma ray but you have to admit it was still great of Kai to remember his former bandmate)

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Even Kiske wrote a song dedicated to him. And it actually isn't that bad.
And Land of the Free could've been a great album if it wasn't for Kai's horrible voice.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Ragehead:I'm not debating whether it was a good album or not, I was merely saying that it's nice that Kai thought of him, same with Helloween and same with Kiske, regardless of what we think of any of them it's nice to see that they all took the time to grieve for their fallen comrade.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
I'm not complaining about the fact that they've dedicated those albums and the song to Ingo. I'm just stating my opinion on Land of the Free. An Album that could've been the next Keeper of the Seven Keys if it wasn't for Kai's voice.
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Ragehead:but I already said I knew what your opinion was on Gamma ray.
To me Ingo was a lot like Keith moon, an excellent drummer who was taken away in the prime of his life.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Really, Land of the Free really could've been a Killer Album. It has not 1 bad song, all killer no filler, the musicianship is great, the production is good and it is overall just great. Everytime I hear the intros of those songs I want to play the air-guitar and start to headbang wild. Then Kai starts to sing...
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Once again there's nothing I can do for you, some like his voice and some don't, but yes I will admit to you right here and now that in terms of vocalists in Helloween I put his voice in the lower scale, Andi Deris being the highest for me.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Yea well Kai is definitely not the best singer out there, but I don't think he is THAT bad. You just kinda get used to his voice, I guess. And it just has become part of the sound of Gamma Ray. Some songs, I cannot imagine someone else singing them. Some people may or may not like it, but he's got an unmistakable, unique voice.

You know your stuffhiro23 wrote:Once again there's nothing I can do for you, some like his voice and some don't, but yes I will admit to you right here and now that in terms of vocalists in Helloween I put his voice in the lower scale, Andi Deris being the highest for me.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Well I figure if I'm going to be starting my own metal band you have to know what's out there, besides Helloween is one of the bands responsible for getting me into power metal.
In terms of how I rate the singers it's like this
3.Michael Kiske(now don't get me wrong he's a great singer but his attitude towards metal and a huge amount of his fans really turns me off to him)
2.Kai Hansen(as Babylon said he's got a voice you do have to get used to however you can tell he's actually trying hard to get the sound that he wants, I do give him an A for effort)
1.Andi Deris(Anyone can say what they want about this man but he rejuvenated a band that was in danger of becoming a parody of itself, True he doesn't have the clean pristine voice that Kiske has however when you think on it the bands name is Helloween, a voice that's more dark and sinister seems to fit that name and Deris delivers that)

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
For me, kiskes technical ability with deris tone would be my favorite.
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
As I said it's not Kiske's voice that turns me off to him(even though I still think it sounds a little too similiar to Geoff tate's) it's his attitude.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
4. Kai Hansen (Worst Heavy Metal singer EVAR for me)
3. Michael Kiske (Good voice but very overrated in my opinion. Also his attitude and his Legion of Asskissing fans that call you Nazi if you don't like him are major turn-offs)
2. Ralf Scheepers (Yeah, I know he never was officialy in the band but still! I love the guy and I would still love to hear a Judas Priest record with him. I know some of you would say "pick any of the first 5 Primal Fear records" but there is a difference XD)
1. Andi Deris (My favourite singer of the bunch. From what I've seen he is a very nice and friendly guy with a great attitude who maybe hasn't the range of Michael Kiske but in exchange to that he actually enjoys being a frontman and his fans don't call me Nazi XD)

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
1 - Kai Hansen, I just love his voice and his songs on the 4 first Helloween albums and after with Gamma Ray
2 - Michael Kiske, because his voice on the two Keepers (the best Helloween albums I think) is really incredible
3 - Andi Deris, he's got the last place because he can't sing the first songs (1985-1991) of the band.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
I saw the 2 youtube videos of the two RTS songs from Japan. He sounds rather good. And for the voice "limitations" he has. his versions of the Kiske songs sound also okay to me. I especially like him singing "A Tale that Wasn't Right". The only 2 songs that he really can't do are Ride the Sky and I Want Out. The rest are okay for his voice.
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
The only difference I can tell from when Andi sings the classics from when Kiske sings them is his range, Andi obviously has a lower range but that doesn't mean he sucks, he just sings it in a different octave.

Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Well, singing stuff like "I Want Out" can sound funny sometimes but it still is okay in my opinion.
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
kiske range beats deris high and low. kiske it better at the techical aspects of singing. tone and style is something more subjective and people can like those more than technical aspects
Re: Helloween Guitarrists
Icecab:your right, Technically I will admit that Kiske is the better singer, however when it comes to emotion and drive I think Deris beats him hands down.
