Also, UNIA's cover wasn't a power metal cover, and this one totally is xD.

I think this will be something like.. "Silence II with no fast drums and Henkka's Reckoning Night Style" or something like that xD...
But if this is doesn't fill my expectations, Stratovarius will turn into my favorite band instead being the second behind sonata.
Nah you will like it unless you really hate all sonata songs with no double bass.
take Broken for example.
I think that is what sonata is heading to.
Not typically fast but dark and still Sonata.

I totally agree... Unia was kinda differend but after a while, I became addicted - great songs with immense depth

So I'm pretty looking forward to September... the double bass-earlier phase of the band was great and I guess also important to become famous and for touring, but now, they also changed and changes are important to a band, otherwise it's possible the sound becomes boring...

As I said in another thread, I have no problem if a band stand by their winning formular. I wouldn't mind if they go back to double-bass, fast SA stuff. I actually would welcome it.

Iw ould like that too but I liked Unia more than the old stuff so it's win-win situation for me unless they do something completely different

absolutely my words... they still play live the faster songs, so you just have to see them live :-)

the older fast songs are pretty catchy what i like, the newer ones are bit more complex what I like too

and Unia had fast songs.
The speed however was no more so dominant part of the song.
Take "the Harvest" For Example. it is quite fast.
Or some parts in "the Vice" and "My Dreams but a Drop of Fuel for a Nightmare"
There is more variety.

I hope. It's rare because I really like early SA songs without double bass, such as Broken, Sing In Silence, The end of this chapter, but I can't stand Unia, except for one song: "For The Sake Of Revenge".
I would probably enjoy a lot Unia without all those weird arrangements, the heavy sound and the awful voice of Kakko (which was great in the first albums).
I hope this new album is more minimalist and not so complex, but still with beautiful melodies and catchy choruses, which kind of lacked in the last album too.

Choruses it lacked.
But catchiness not. There were lots of addicting hooks that just are harder to find.

Take the Vice for example. it was ones that took the longest time to get into.
Yet the vical melodies and hooks in them are just incredible.

BTW official forum just reported of a new interview.
I checked and translated it there and it says there are tasters coming soon to their site.
And that Johanna Kurkela is guesting the album.

Well I do get the feeling it's going to have a slightly different sound to it as they have a different guitarist now.

However since Tony Kakko is still the main writer it will still have that Sonata Arctica sound to it.

I wonder what will turn out better. Cain's Offering debut album or the next Sonata Album. I'll have to wait.

When I first listened to Unia it was like "uh oh, they fucked it up". But after a couple spins it sounded awesome. I had huge hopes cause the first time I listened to Reckoning Night I couldn't stop listening to it, I think I listened it 3 or 4 times in a row. But in the end I like Unia, it's not outstanding but it's a great album.

Now this album seems to be something different. Unia looked minimalistic and uninspired artwork-wise, but this album art looks fresh.

xDD omg... Broken is so boring, like a "Sing in Silence" remake atempt (Sing in silence is my favorite Sonata balad) ...
I LOVED UNIA... I trust them.
I don't know why you got the idea I don't like
fast songs, I just said that if Tommy said the album reminded him to Silence, then the result might be a non-fast Silence, but a bit more dark... I'm just speculating
No need to feel so afraid, colors last a lifetime and fade to gray...

I don't know why you got the idea I don't like

There is a simple answer.
I didin't.
For where did I say anything like that.

and Broken is one of their best songs. But only live.

The songs off of unia made a lot more sense when I saw the feeling they put into the songs when I saw them play them live. Unia has actually grown on me and the lyrics are pretty good too. Can't wait to see these guys with Dragonforce in September :P

Sonata Arctica is another band that fortunately or unfortunately I'm very biased about, I will most likely love it

Just preordered the 2cd digipack+T-shirt and the single from their webshop.
I must say I'm really looking forward to this release and not to mention the tour! Saw them in Wacken last year, but was way too drunk to remember anything :?

I hope they won't move too far away from the Uniastyle. Really loved that album!
