Former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske is collaborating with American singer Amanda Somerville on a brand new melodic hard rock/metal project for Frontiers Records. Mat Sinner (PRIMAL FEAR, SINNER) and Magnus Karlsson (PLACE VENDOME, PRIMAL FEAR) are handling most of the songwriting for the CD, which is tentatively due in early 2010.
Commented Kiske: "This is another idea by Serafino (Frontiers owner). I did a duet with a female singer on 'Breathing Water' by INDIGO DYING. It was so nice that he offered me a chance to make an album of all duet songs with a famous female singer."
Sinner added: "We're working hard on the songwriting for the first [Kiske/Somerville] album. It's a pleasure to write and produce Michael's next album, and with Amanda as the co-singer, it's something very special. I wrote songs with Magnus and Jimmy Kresic for the album, and we're really excited about the songs. Eight tracks are pre-produced now and we need another two songs before we will start the real recordings. AFTER FOREVER mainman Sander Gommans plans to join us and he's working on new songs with Amanda at the moment! Look out for a melodic metal masterpiece in early 2010!"
Somerville is the American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who was tapped to replace EPICA vocalist Simone Simons on the band's North American tour with SYMPHONY X due to Simons' health issues.
Amanda was featured on KAMELOT's latest release, "Ghost Opera", and recently toured with AVANTASIA. She last year released her long-awaited solo album, "Windows".
A Michigan native, Amanda has resided and worked mainly in Germany and the Netherlands since 1999. She has collaborated with several other bands in the metal scene along with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro, and co-wrote the rock opera "Aina". Her own music is of the pop-rock genre.

After his musical carrere failed, Ernie decided to return to sesame street.
Re: Former HELLOWEEN Singer Collaborating With AMANDA SOMERVILLE
He keeps doing all these boring projects... What a waste of talent/good voice.
Re: Former HELLOWEEN Singer Collaborating With AMANDA SOMERVILLE
He is not doing anything that he thinks is boring. that's all a person can do.
Re: Former HELLOWEEN Singer Collaborating With AMANDA SOMERVILLE
That's true. Good for him if he's enjoying it and is happy. I, however, think it's boring and a voice like that could be awesome for a metal band. Just my opinion

I think 99.9% of all Helloween Fans think like that. But sadly this won't happen. I wish he would do a Power Metal Album together with Tobias Sammet as song-writer. "Shelter from the Rain" from the Avantasia Album was just awesome.Babylon wrote:That's true. Good for him if he's enjoying it and is happy. Yeah, as were about all the Metal Opera songs where Kiske sang in. And everything else, too.Ragehead91 wrote:I think 99.9% of all Helloween Fans think like that. But sadly this won't happen. And Judas at the Opera on Superheroes EP is an awesome Kiske duet power metal track, too, although it's a bit wtf.
I have to add, we both messed it up. Before I edited my message, it read Judas in the Opera here, and Judas of the Opera is the opinions of the guy below me. ^^

Judas of the Opera was the best Track from Rocket Ride...And it is a b-side...Tobias should really overthing his new concept for Edguy...
Re: Former HELLOWEEN Singer Collaborating With AMANDA SOMERVILLE
Yep, that's an awesome song. Obviously him doing a metal project is out of the question, but I dunno.. he should try something like SupaRed, for example, I thought that one was pretty good.Ragehead91 wrote:I think 99.9% of all Helloween Fans think like that. Nah...SupaRed was meh...He should stay with Place Vendome. Those albums are actually pretty decent.Babylon wrote:Yep, that's an awesome song. I like the first PV album, but I was sorta disappointed on the new one.

I think both are mellow. Not my cup of tea anyway, that kind of flat AOR. Still, I sometimes still listen to them. It mostly depends on my mood if I like them or not. Kiske of course is awesome.
Re: Former HELLOWEEN Singer Collaborating With AMANDA SOMERVILLE
Yes. To me the new one is a lot more mellow. I've only listened to the full album once. I have tried to listen to it again, but it just bores me.Intiaani wrote:I think both are mellow. Not my cup of tea anyway, that kind of flat AOR.
