Yeah: http://forum.stratovarius.com/viewtopic.php?t=9147

I went to their concert here in Sao Paulo, amazing as well. I was really sick that day, had a fever and shit. Still, made it very close to the stage and had a great time.

My favourite song in the concert was Rebirth, it was a really special moment that I'll remember forever, such a great song for live performances.

The only downside really was that they were in a tour with Sepultura. Now I won't say Sepultura blows per se, but it blows for me, I actually left the concert when Sepultura was about to come into the stage (partially because I was very sick, partially because I can't stand their music). But apparently I didn't miss much (if anything at all). It seems that Angra joined them at some point to sing some popular metal songs, and judging by the YouTube videos I watched, it sucked big time.

they are going to play in Venezuela tomorrow... but well, i'm not home right now. at least I saw them live in 2006, I think.

sick setlist of the Temple of Shadows tour... they even played Carolina IV with an extended intro where everyone in the band was playing a drum.. it rocked. Love Angra

I'm calling for a "Power Metal Clusterfuck tour"
Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Stratovarius, Angra, Hammerfall, Iced Earth and Edguy,
The tour stays in each city for 2 days, plays some outdoor venue for most of the day.
Day one, Hammerfall : Edguy : Iced Earth : Helloween
Day two, Angra : Sonata Arctica : Stratovarius : Blind Guardian

World tour.

Imagine the dream:

The big Power-Epic Tour:

Stratovarius, Kamelot, Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, Gamma Ray, Symphony X, Dark Moor, Angra, Edguy, Freedom Call, Helloween, Iced Earth, Hamerfall, Rhapsody, Manowar...touring together!
Through the storms we've wandered
Many mountains we have climbed
But all the bad times are behind
The road is free - I'm coming home

Helloween, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius and Gamma Ray should headline this. Those bands are the Big 4 of Power Metal to me. Much like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer are the Big 4 of Thrash Metal.

I dont agree, for me, the big of power metal are:

Stratovarius, Kamelot, Blind Guardian and Helloween, but I wouldnt put Gamma in that list, even if they're older than Kamelot, I think K is better!

There is nothing to agree or disagree about. Strato, BG, Helloween and GR were the pioneers of European Power Metal (especially Helloween and GR). They ARE the big 4 and that is a fact.

Seriously.
If by the other three you mean BG, GM, and Helloween, then I agree. I've never been into German power metal. Still, I like bands such as Domain, Ivory Tower, and Vanden Plas, but I'm not a fan of the trinity BG, GM, and Helloween.

That is sad because you're missing out on some awesome pieces of music (Blind Guardian and Helloween).

But I think that it is a established fact that I don't care for Gamma Ray either. For obvious reasons.

I feel sorry for you too for not liking Miles Davis. There's so much great jazz out there. How do you deal with it?

What is your logic behind saying they suck? They have one of the best signers in metal and are one of the most influential bands in metal. They have a live show that is one of the most renowned in metal. Each musician in the band is skilled at his instrument. each song is well formed and orchrestrated when they have orchrestra, and heavy when they have it as a traditional metal song.

Their approach to their live performances have nothing to do with quality, and everything to do with amplifier noise. Musically it is bland heaviness without a real uniqueness to it, the lyrics are corny to a point that I cannot take them seriously and I really can't see anything behind why they have "One of the best singers in Metal". Nothing about them stands out to me except the noise and the lyrics.

I'm not going to say people shouldn't enjoy them, but I find nothing redeeming in the music.

i think manowar has their own sound and all. i'm not sure what other groups in 82 and so on sound like manowar.

the singer is aclaimed in broadway an and in reveiws by critics that otherwise don't like manowar so i don't see anything against him being called one of the best in metal. he can sustain notes of multiple octives for a long time and is one of the most accurate singers in live shows. he is one of the most commonly refered to singers on best of lists and on lists of influences.

Maybe so, I'll grant you there's a talent there, but it's just...

I've been contemplating dropping more than $1000 on a trip to Wacken (I'm an American, so plane ticket, Concert Ticket, and food money alone gets me to like, $1200, and that's if I don't get a hotel AT ALL, and ONLY go to Wacken).

The rumored headliners for 2010 are Metallica and Manowar.
Metallica, I can handle, but if both Metallica and Manowar headine, and the third headliner isn't Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, ect... (one of my favorite bands) I probably will wait a year. James LaBrie is an acclaimed singer with a bunch of talent too, but that doesn't mean everyone loves Dream Theater

(I do, but there's a big enough contingent of Anti-DT out there)

I don't like the 'I don't like them, therefore they suck" attitude that some metal fans seem to have that has nothing to do with how the band plays what they play. There are plenty of bands I don't like that I recognize as being good at what they do.

For wacken, wait till you find headliners you want . I’d invest the money in having a band before I put it into going to the festival . I think that would put a person in a better position.

I recognize that a lot of bands I dislike are actually quite good.
I'm not a fan of Kiske-Era Helloween outside of a few songs, but I know it's good. However, the fact that they sing directly about the Genre of Heavy Metal just makes me cringe, maybe I'm a bit of a snob, but self-reference in lyrics is just... UGH.

They're doing it Strato-style: pre-production videos, countryside isolation (featured in the video they're supposed to post next). Sounds good to me!
