Besides it's not cheap, putting someone to death.
From the link icecab brought:
The death penalty is "expensive" in the U.S. only because of America`s judicial system, which allows endless expensive appeals to proceed forever. Israel has no jury system at all.
Why should he die a quick and relatively painless death instead of living in a cage?
He will still live. Israeli prisons are not summer camps AFAIK, but it's still possible to live there relatively well, considering the environment. Hey, Samir Kuntar, lebanese terrorist who, among other things, killed a little girl by smashing her head with a rifle in 1979 in nothern Israeli town Nahariya, got a bachelor's degree from an Open University while being in prison.

But yeah, since modern methods of execution are quick and mostly painless, the death sentence will be an easy solution for him. I can think of some medieval methods of execution that fit his crime, but they are not used since like 18th century.

The main reasons that the appeals process is so lengthy is to try to ensure what I outlined in my long post is at least attempted to be adhered to. If an innocent man is put to death, there's no releasing him. They try to ensure that doesn't happen.

Is that an argument in favour of Sharia law? One of the biggest differences between fundamentalist states and more civilized countries is the judicial system and the forms of punishment. Which are all outlined under the various evil Human Rights acts.

http://mylifeofcrime.wordpress.com/2009 ... fire-also/

This case happened in April about 5 miles from where I live. Except this son of a bitch got off easy. He committed suicide. He destroyed his whole family, literally. His parents had no children, or grandchildren left.

All that can be asked in this situation is 'could this have been prevented?'

Nothing. That was the shock of it. Nobody saw this tragedy coming. Sure, they went through a divorce, but up til the murders there was no threats against the family. Not every psycho looks like this:

Of course if his Ex wife and sister had knew he was coming with killing intentions they would have been ready, but noone knew Kevin was this crazed.

it's very true, it's hard to know what really is the best course of action, however I think we can all agree that if someone kills in cold blood like murderers do that they do deserve some sort of punishment

Of course not. But what do you with someone like this? The more details from this case are released to the public, the more is clear that this guy will never repent. He's a cold blooded murderer, completely sane and completely aware of his actions. He told the policemen who arrested and investigated him that he has no pity towards the family he butchered, he told with disgust how the father, who was murdered last, begged for his life instead of crying about his already murdered children, he was surprised that the police is making such a fuss about the murdered children (his exact words). What kind of punishment is fit for someone like this? Why the Human RIghts acts should be applied to him at all when he deprived his 6 victims of a most basic right - to live?

That is a dilemma. But the law must be consistent. Unfortunately, people aren't in that respect. Is one murder 'worse' than another? Who makes that call? It's impossible for a certain punishment to exist for particular cases and not for others; they must be the same.
