DragonForce... ?
That's also what I think, it's okay if someone dislikes them but it's also okay if someone is a big fan of them.

Re: DragonForce... ?
I just saw them live (little more than an hour ago, actually). Here are my thoughts.
The guitars were very sharp, it was all very well played. Those who say they can't play at the same speed they play in their albums are full of shit. I can't complain about their performance. I did miss backing vocals, though. Their songs rely on backing vocals, but they were completely absent.
ZP was kind of a jerk some times. He constantly mocked us, criticized us for not singing louder (sorry, but if you want the audience to sing along, your songs need to be catchier), and even worse, he made some remarks which clearly incited violence among the crowd. Stuff like "if the guy next to you isn't screaming and jumping, kick him". We are not animals, we deserved some respect. It's ok to curse, we all do it, even more so in the context of a concert where everybody is agitated. But he was aggressive towards us and disrespectful about the concert (constantly calling it "this shit"). And he was asking us stuff like "what, are you falling asleep?", and clearly 90% of the people out there didn't understand a word of what he said. It was really unfortunate.
Overall they were really childish, immature and silly. Their jokes were all kind of innapropriate, and I had to back off, afraid Sam would throw a sweaty towel in my direction (he rubbed it in his forehead, armpit and groin before throwing it). Sam kept making sexual references (stuff like "air blowjobs", "air masturbation"), really silly and unnecessary stuff. After the final song they started to get extra silly, pushing each other around like 4th graders. Those jokes made people in the crowd a bit more agitated than I'd like to see. They were moshing, and people got hurt, the usual crap.
On the bright side, like I said, they were really sharp. The Last Journey Home was really special to me. Still people weren't singing along. I think their songs are tough for non-native speakers, they aren't very catchy. And heck, they're too fast, my neck is killing me.
I'd like to see them again, but with some reserves. I hope they realize we're not there for their "bro jokes", but for the music. The music was good, the stuff in between kind of blew.

They do have their days. Sometimes they're right on. Other times... not so much.fernandotcl wrote:I just saw them live (little more than an hour ago, actually). Here are my thoughts.

For me they're an awesome band whenever I don't have to listen to their shit all the time. Whenever I hear a song, or max two, every now and then, I'm blown away.
My favorites are those that are most well known to me: Through Fire and Flames, My Spirit Will Go On, Fury of the Storm, Above the Winter Moonlight and the best one, Where Dragons Rule, their debut album Japanese bonus track. Those have basically been on my iPod for years and I've used to them. Great music in very small portions.

from Dragonforce i like the first 2 albums then in my opinion they got very exagerated and very like cheesy in their songs....i'm seeing them this friday with the Timo Tolkki seminar and i hope the Dragonforce sound live is good because with all those effects i really doubt it will.....so i hope the 8hours trip will worth
Every second of day it is coming your way
Re: DragonForce... ?
They played great both times I saw them. Vadim is the best stage performing keyboard player I have ever seen. I think vadims nonconventionality is cool; it's nice that not everyone plays to some strict standard. I definitely love the theremin that he uses. They should cover jump. i think in their solos they have spots that arent so interesting but they will also have complete earcandy in some spots. i made a little song playing around with a couple of solo parts of winter moonlight and i'm very happy with the result
