How's Jorn's solo album? is it good enough to hold me off till the new masterplan album is out.

Oh by the way you have got me collecting the At Vance Cd's now.

1: Well, it is what you would expect from him. Solid Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. I think it is worth buying.

2. In the AFM Online Shop you can buy a 7-in-1 At Vance package with all Albums from 1999 to 2007 for 45€ IIRC.

Your right I would never in a million years have thought you would have said that.

Although I really like Jorn I was more apt to Mike Dimeo's voice but to hear you actually say Dimeo in and Jorn out, I didn't think I would have seen the day.

I have to revise my opinion. The whole thing is very complex and I guess it'll take a lot more spins before I can give my final review of this.

Basicly from when I got up around 8 o'clock until now I've done a hardcore listening season and I have changed my opinion completely. The Album rocks. When you first listen to it you might don't like it and be disappointed, but give it time. The songs are more complex and hooks are scattered rarely so it won't be as catchy as the other 3 albums. But once the songs really grew on you, they realls shine. I don't think it is as good as the debut or MK II (those are my favourites), but it is still a damn good album. If you didn't like Aeronautics you probably won't like this either. And if you expect MKII or Debut part II you'll likely be disappointed as I was at first but if you just try to listen to it with an open mind I think that you'll like it. However I recommend everyone here to download it or listen to it on Youtube as soon as it leaks before buying it.

I'm open minded, I'm sure like yourself the album will grow on me, I still plan on buying it.

Do you know those albums that you can't get into even after listening to them like 100 times and then all of a sudden they just seem to "click" with you? This is one of them.

If you listen to anything 100 times, you'll eventually like it...that hardly makes it a good album. You didn't have to listen to Visions 100 times, did you?

The artists are "entertainers"; I never understood why the fans should have to put an enormous amount of effort into appreciating their music. They should make it easy for us!

Its just an attitude thing, I think. If you consider yourself a professional music listener, you may have the patience to go through that. But I have a million things on my plate (figuratively, unlike Tolkki) besides music. So if it doesn't click with me after a few spins I really consider it a waste of my time.

Even if I tried I couldn't listen to Visions 100 times. I think it's one of the more boring strato albums. Only like Forever Free, BD and the title track.

I don't know. I just don't think it's that special. Give me Stratosphere or Stratofortress. Coming Home is an okay song, I loved it when they played it live, but the studioversion lacks something.

I understand you, but i'm not sure you're right. Maybe easy and catchy songs we like from the first time, but for me common is when i see some complex melodic, harmonic and rhytmic structures and then i apreciate.
When you listen to epic songs, when the chorus is not repeated 10 times, it's hard to predict if this song you like you don't like

It's great to read something like this from you! It seems even you can show some openmindness when your favorite band is about to let you down! ;D

I preordered my copy for 3,80€ btw because I once again got a full set of stamps from RecordshopX. I hadn't ordered anything there for a year's time or so, so it became as a cool surprise. ^^

So far I've read many kinds of opinions from the album. I am as horrified as interested. :D I've managed not to hear anything from it yet, and I hope I won't until I get the album.

I, too, think that listening to a bad album much to make it good album is just a waste of time. Any music automatically seems to become good when you become familiar with it. I think good music always effects quicker. :) No-one should have patience to listen something they don't like at all for 20 times or so. :P

Did my mind just play a trick on me or wasn't there a Icecab post saying something like "His favourite band: he listenes a 100 times and any other band he listens 1 time and they suck"?

Well, yes, it is like this. If there is a band that I absolutely adore and which has never released an album that has disappointed me, chances are that I'll give their albums more time to grow on me than other bands. However I listen to most music more than once before I judge them. Yes, If I listen to one album and it disappoints me at first and grows on me later I have a big problem to keep my mouth shut and tend to blow things out of proportions when I bitch about it and that backfires when I actually get to like the album. But most of the time I listen to an album more than once.

i was talking about ragehead with that post then decided to remove it.
some people seem to blame it on the band rather than themselves when they don't like something. its all in the ear the the beholder and how the listaner chooses to listen.
