I'm rooting for Brazil!!

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
What a disappointment from Brazil! I went mad while watching their game, that's not football!
A real disgrace coming from a team which is known by having the nicest style of playing.
And great players too (Leonidas, Pele, Garrincha, Zico, Rivaldo).
The match was so bad that even Robinho had a good performance.

Slovakia vs New Zealand was no surprise.
Ivory Coast should have scored and won. They played fantastic.
If North Korea tied Brazil I would lol and yell "FFFFUUUUU-" because all the matches today would have tied.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
t's too soon, these first matches are always a bit boring and unpredictible. Right now, Germany is the only one that showed power and good football.
Anyway, the favourites are the same as always: Brazil, Italy, Argentina and Germany.
Let's see if Spain offers today a great match. I hope so!

Italy - Paraguay: Such a convincing match, although I expected more from the last WC Champion
New Zeland - Slovakia: I was watching it while drinking coffee at Uni, and for a moment Slovakia was playing a better match; NZ's goal made them freak out
Ivory Coast - Portugal:
Brazil - North Korea: I thought this was going to be the first "goleada" of the WC; what a depressing match
Chile - Honduras: Both teams made a excellent performance, but Chile did better after the goal
Now I'm watching the 2nd half of Spain - Switzerland...OMG! While writting this, Switzerland scored a goal! Keeper and defender's mistake, what a pity

Pathetic match for spain. Pathetic team today.
Now I see really difficult to see Spain being able to make something good in this WC.

I'm sure they at least have chances with Honduras, but on the 25th against Chile they would need to give 110%! This is getting more weird as days goes byRazielSR wrote:Pathetic match for spain. Pathetic team today.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
Early review-
My country was perfect in making attacks, but needed a better performance in executing goals. Chile fuck yes!
Spain... as a commentator said, it was the Waterloo of an almost legendary squad. We'll give credit to the Swiss defense.
Now Uruguay scored. I will edit this review once the match is over.
EDIT: Uruguay is beast! Of course Forlan would score not once, but twice!
bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
goal.
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

I think Argentina will do a good job.
Shocked by Spain's loss, but then again the Swiss put up a masterful defence. These things happen in football...

Greece defeated Nigeria 2-1.
Nice move for greece, good-bye Nigeria.... (maybe)
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
Good for Argentina and good for Greece.
Enormous Higuain. It has been a very good match. And I trust in Maradona, for me the best player in history.
Greece, the first victory in a WC. Good for them.
Anyway, I'm seeing a lot of hate from everywhere against Spain. Mainly from Argentina. A lot of offensive comments against Spain. I never understand why that hate, mainly because a lot of people from argentina is living here and the best football players are earning or have been earning millions and millions in spanish teams. I see that the people from Argentina have a lot of fun if Spain lose.
The spanish players knows that they are not favourite to win this WC and that the favourites are other teams (as I said). It is the press who use to say that we are favourites, and that is the media from Spain and other countries, plus a lot of epic football players. And now it's like all the players of the fans were saying "we are gonna win this for sure".
I'm very dissapointed with the treatment we are having around the world. I just can't understand.
Just some examples:
- "Muchas Gracias, Suiza" se leía en español en la portada de La Gazzetta dello Sport.
- ¿Esta era España?
Translation: "Thanks a lot Switzerland" "This was Spain?"(the original in La gazzetta was in spanish)
And I ask, why that? I have never lived something like that. Now the macarronis says thanks if a team win against Spain.
I just can't understand.
There should be no thanks or whatever if one team wins or another. It's like if today in the spanish media we could read: "Thanks Greece". I mean, the only direction here is just to offend. And I ask why.
The media from Uruguay:
"Oye tío, ¿la furia dónde está?"
translation: "hey dude?where's the fury?" (red fury is some of the names spanish squad have around here). And hat "oye tío" is like trying to seem an spanish saying it, cause they know (in Uruguay) that in spain we use a lot that word. I mean, it is disparaging.
From Argentina:
"Candidato? Joder..."
translation. "candidate? fuck..."
and well, from Argentina we are having a lot of offense. I don't unhderstand, you know, almost all the argentina players play or have been playing and getting famous in spain. Here in Spain for example we use words like these to appreciate the good work from our (i should say ex-friends):
"Festival goleador de Gonzalo Higuaín, nuevo Pichichi del Mundial en el día de su estreno goleador en la Copa del Mundo. Argentina tiene arriba pura dinamita. Sin grandes alardes pasó por encima de Corea del Sur y cogió el billete para octavos. Adiós al debate de la Messidependencia."
I don't feel like translating, but there are only good words and support there.
Well, time will tell. This is more than football, and I'm seeing that people around here is feeling deceived by the "amigos" we have in south america or in the mediterranean (I'm refering here to the italians, you can see a lot of italians in Spain, mainly in the coast of Valencia (due to the proximity). Fuck, now is Spain who is angry, and I'm not talking about football here. And that's not good.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
It's all trash talk, part of the game!
Great showing from Argentina, but they are looking a bit fragile at the back. Against a team like Germany or Brazil, they will be punished much more severely for such mistakes.
Excellent comeback from Greece! Rehaagel finally decided to take a more offensive approach and it paid off. Exciting match. Argentina will probably be a bit more relaxed in the next game, meaning perhaps Greece can come away with a draw if they're lucky... maybe Maradona won't want to risk his star players in that match. Either that or Greece will be mercilessly crushed to pieces by Argentina, but at least there's goals and a victory to take home from this competition unlike ...last time.
Generally, the competition is improving with much better quality matches. Stunning goal from Forlan last night as well.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
France were awful. So many world-class players, but there was absolutely no desire or passion in their game... it's like they were bored being on the pitch. It's the coach's job to instil that, and Domenech has completely failed in all aspects of the job. They should've gotten rid of him before the WC to limit the damage he'd do, not afterwards. Just goes to show that Ireland deserved that WC spot, not them.
Mexico by contrast worked hard and imaginatively, and fully deserved their victory.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 thread
England = utter rubbish. Not fit to wear the shirt. They can't blame the manager this time either, it's all due to the players. They need to do something like what happened with the Netherlands when Van Basten was coach - get rid of all the 'big names' and bring in youthful talent.
Oh wait, the Premier League doesn't nurture English talent, they bring in foreign players and their investments are all poured in that direction. And then they wonder why their team has the depth of a road puddle. The years of the top Premier League teams focusing on winning at all costs and not actually trying to raise the level of the sport in England itself are catching up with them. The tradition lately has been for England (when they qualify) to reach the quarter finals and lose on penalties. It looks possible that this year, they won't even manage that.
As for Germany, Klose getting sent off was a shame, and it rattled them. However, if it were any other team I'm pretty sure they would've lost by a far bigger margin.
Also, why on earth did they let Podolski take that penalty? He was clearly having a bad day and was unfocused. Schweinsteiger or Lahm were far more obvious choices.
