Haven't you listened to The Great Pandemonium either? Why not? That one is officially released, so you can listen to that one.

Okay i listened to The Great Pandemonium.

They truly raised hell on earth in this video didn't they? :P Roy looks, odd to say the least. Not quite the video you'd excpect from these guys and that's actually good. Bands need to evolve.

And now the song itself: The lyrics are mysterious and deep, nothing new considering it's Kamelot but much darker than before. The mix between talking and the singing gives a nice touch. The intro is very very cool, this will be one of those songs where i hear the beginning and it's impossible to skip it, not that i'd do that anyway.

The solo is better than anything i've heard from Thomas, and i believe this is the longest guitarsolo they've made? Not sure, could be. I like these screams more than the ones on Black Halo, it's good that the screams a bit downplayed.

Hello Kamelot Nation,

The band and crew are all here in Tampa rehearsing for the tour – Visas have been cleared and the guys are in good spirits and ready to party with all of you. However, during rehearsals, Roy became severely ill. Due to this, as yet undiagnosed, illness, Roy reluctantly has been forced to head back home to Norway. He is currently under his physician’s care, but unfortunately these circumstances will prevent him from joining us on the North American concert tour. Of course, we want Roy to take care of his health as priority one for now and for the future. After much consideration on how to proceed, all of us in Kamelot feel strongly about keeping our commitment to our fans, promoters, and support bands on this tour! We are all ready and excited about playing these shows, we have flown in people from around the world to be apart of it and it has been in the works over a year! Therefore, we are working diligently with a fantastic singer willing to step in at the eleventh hour in order to make this tour a reality – our good friend Michael from Circus Maximus (Norway) has agreed to fill in for Roy! And we are excited to announce a special guest: Swedish vocalist Elize Ryd from Amaranthe will be joining the band on the North American Tour. She will also be part of the VIP meet and greet! Elize toured with us on our Summer Pandemonium Tour and also the European tour earlier this Spring. Also as a special thank you to our North American fans, our friends at ESP guitars have donated a beautiful ESP guitar which will be signed by Thomas Youngblood and given away at the end of our North American tour – this contest is open only to North American tour concert goers. Fans can enter for a chance to win this exclusive item by signing up in the designated area at each show! More surprises are in store at many shows including special guest appearances and more.”

Roy especially would like to add:

“I am terribly sorry that I cannot do this upcoming tour in North-America this fall. We have our most fantastic album ever coming out in September, and the timing could have been better I guess. The band has my full and unconditional blessing to go out there and kick ass regardless, and I feel we have found a good replacement in Michael. He is a very good singer and long time friend. Be good to him! Hope to see you soon!” All the best from Roy Khan.

Michael states:

“Roy and I go way back, so when he called and asked me to help him and the rest of Kamelot to do their long planned USA tour, I told him, “Sure bro, I am there for you.”

It will be big shoes to fill , but in his honor I will do my best to give the Kamelot fans a show they have long awaited. So grab your earplugs and come join the party!”

We cannot thank you enough for your tremendous support over the years, and look forward to being out to meet more of you on the road! Please join us in wishing Roy a speedy recovery, and swift return to us!”

Michael is a good singer, but that would suck if you would go to see your first Kamelot gig and Roy himself wouldn't be there.

Hmm..Couldn't find any tour dates for the rest of the year in europe, do you know if there will be any..In Finland perhaps? :)

Edit: Found the concert info, appereantly there won't be any, or atleast they haven't been informed..

Well listen to other bands then. :) For me personally Roy is 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 times the singer TK will ever be. So opinios are different sometimes. Nothing wrong with that is it. :)

Meh, instrumentally Kamelot is great (though not nearly as good as Strato imo), and I only hate Roy from it. So I can still objectively comment on it anyway.
Also, why do you think RK > TK?

I also think Kamelot is musically better. ;)

I like Roy more than TK because:

A) I like his sound much. much more.
B) Roy Knows his limits. He knows he cannot sing really high anymore, so he doesn't do it. TK on the other hand still records songs like Forever is Today and totally fucks them up live.*
C) I love the emotion in RK's voice. Never heard that with TK. But that's probably because he always has to focus 100% on the melodyline he is singing because they are usually out of his range.*

* That's when I would like TK more. The day when he accepts he cannot sing everything he wants anymore. Roy accepted that and transposed songs down. TK should do it too. :)

But now we're getting off-topic. This was about Kamelot. Let's keep it that way. :)

I know you didn't ask me but...

I have always liked deeper voices in music, but something about TK's voice i like..Although on some songs and sometimes when live he does sound like a cat being chainsawed when he sings very high notes. *cough* find your own voice *cough*

Yeah I've got that too. I love deeper voices. And when I heard Strato for the first time I really had to get used to it. And I really started to like it. But then, sometime in 2007, I was thinking like, maybe he should start to transpose a bit. But he never did it. And kept singing like a cat indeed. That's what I think is the downside of TK. If he would just accept the fact that he is getting older it would be much better.

I cannot believe that TK is listening to Polaris Live and hears Father Time and Forever is Today thinking: 'Well I did a good job there'

A: That's your opinion, sure. :)
B: I hate it when people accept they have limits. If everyone would do that, nothing great would ever happen.
C: There are some songs there's a lot of emotion is TK's voice (like Land of Ice and Snow, Winter Skies or Elegantly Broken by Cain's Offering).

Also, in what way is Kamelot instrumentally superior to Strato? Strato has Jens (best metal keyboardist without a doubt), Matias (amazing guitar player, though not proven yet), Lauri (one of the best power metal bass players) and Jörg (best power metal drummer).

(This is somewhat about Kamelot, meh. :))

EDIT: Back to the singer topic: there's only one singer imo who is better in any way than TK: Hansi!

I don't really know who i prefer instrumental wise, and yes Strato has very talented guys but that doesn't mean that the instrumentals still would be any better, maybe Kamelot's instrumental writing is better than Strato's.

It's kind of stupid to compare two great bands though..Still i join it.

But I do agree with Kosmo. Maybe the Stratovarius instrumentalists are super talents. That doesn't mean their music is world's best. I just like the writing style of Kamelot more. I love their music.

But as Kosmo said, both great bands. Both with different highlights. Both of wich I will buy albums and support them in the future. Both I like for different reasons. :)

EDIT: I don't like Hansi, or Blind Guardian at all.

What do you mean? I made a valid point, Kamelot's writing is usually more interesting than Strato's. I mean lyrically Kamelot swipes Strato off the table that's sort of obvious, the song structure is more difficult to decide on though..I mean albums like Dreamspace had excellent writing, if not Strato's ultimate best even, it's very diverse.

Just because people are talented doesn't mean the songs are automatically interesting, what if the song itself is a boring pile of crap but the people can play it easily, that doesn't make it sound any better. Double bass driven songs grow very tiring after a while and i'm glad that Kamelot decided to shake things up a bit and judging by the reviews of the new album the writing is great, i'll have to see for myself though.

Everyone seemed to hate Strato's self titled album, why? The bands sound evolved and they broke the boundries of the usual on that album, wich made me like it very much. But still there is flaws on that album, obvious flaws. Then on the next album it seemed like a step back in the evolving of the sound but at the same time a step forward wich is brilliant, good music writing.

For my part the Elements albums were Strato's worst, many disagree though, and i'm not saying that every Kamelot album is perfect, Ghost Opera was as a whole a bit tiring, especially when compared to The Black Halo.

So when comparing the writing styles neither is oerfect but neither is bad, but if i would have to decide..I would go with Kamelot mainly because of the lyrics wich play a huge part for me in music, sometimes Strato's lyrics seem a bit shallow.. Both great bands with excellent writing but at the end of the day i enjoy Kamelot's style more.

Edit: Typos here and there.

Actually Elements pt.2 got me into Strato, but still i would rank those in to the bottom, the main thing in those albums is that TK reached way to high way too often..Atleast in pt.1. :?
