Matias Kupiainen the new Michael Romeo?(With an offtopic)

Post by KupiainenItaly96 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 6:04 pm

Matias is fantastic!
I've heard since a week his songs that are on myspace, there is also a jazz-rock song and a country-blues-rock song!
It's a very complete guitarist, fast times alternate to blues-jazz-rock slow mordants that remember the Steve Lukhater.

I WOULD REMEMBER YOU THAT STEVE LUKHATER IS KENJI YAMAMOTO'S GUITARIST.
SO What do we do?
I understand that you are angry with Kenji in two pieces because he plagiarized the Stratovarius, but is an excellent composer and Matias Kupiainen for my opinion will be a guest star in the soundtrack of the next Dragon Ball videogame

Sorry
So we pass to the comparison:
Kupiainen favors fast rhythmic full of distortions and changes of time required to drummers and bassists in his compositions, excluding of course the wonderful but slightly commercial Darkest Hours, complementary non-linear, progressive metal contamination in its tracks and solo blues and jazz fusion.
Have virtuoso solos worthy of the progressive power metal is that the neoclassical metal.
Sound experiments with special effects, artificial harmonics and specific guitar techniques like tapping, string skipping and sweep picking, making it even more like Romeo.
Romeo, however, in the compositions is better because it also uses the whole tone scale, the harmonic minor scale, the melodic minor scale, the diminished scale, major scale eastern and last but not least THE ARABIAN SCALE!
So there are similarities in style, also Kupiainen harmonies remind me sometimes in the style of Children of Bodom Follow the Reaper.

What do you think?

for me, matias tone, scales and overall sound is more close to a satriani/Vai school than a Romeo/ malmsteem ...
that being said, Romeo is a clone of malmsteem
Satriani & Vai are more different, I would put matias in a more Vai - Vibe.
in my very humble opinion
